I have been following this game for a long time now, hoping and praying that it will be released. I've seen the vids. I've read the promises. I want the game. I have a sad feeling that the old days of the MMORPG are gone. Replaced with WoW clones and games that are big on promise and short on delivery. Is Darkfall too good to be true...Can it save the modern day MMO from the clutches of big producers like SOE and Blizzard. I doubt it. If they ever do get the money to finish this game it'll probably get an early release just to pay the bills and end up the mess Vanguard and AoC did at launch. I'll keep watching...I'll keep hoping...I'll keep dreaming until i get shot down again. Hey, for me, this is truely the game i want to see succeed. So stay away SOE :) |

Yep, its sad we dont see the major companys doing good MMOs. We have to rely on small unknown developers. And as you said, we have no problem with releases of MMOs that should have been in development for another year or so. |

At least Darkfall is not the only options. I've also been looking forward to Fallen Earth and they are a lot more open with info about the game than Aventurine is with Darkfall. There is also Mortal Online, which was announced only this past April, pretty much is doing all the same things as Darkfall but in a prettier looking package IMHO. Melanko's Gamer Blog |

about some things yeah. melee/mounted/naval combat and the world and world physics and such have been pretty well-covered.
the main things they're keeping hush-hush on are the skills, spells and crafting lists. i'm ok with that, most games don't give out full pre-release lists of all this stuff either.

Originally posted by Jasz No Darkfall will not be too good to be true, it will be just the same as EvE was. Developed by a small dedicated number of very skilled individuals. Amazing what you can do with efficient coding, something most games don't get close to acheiving these days. Darkfall is just re-addressing the poor state MMOs have gotten themselves into. No longer games of note just empty boring worlds with no community , lacking purpose and full of features that reduce gameplay options. If it isn't DarkFall it could be one of a number of MMO releases to come that will get the genre on the right track. These guys have money their own and are investing it in their dreams. The old days are not gone they just don't live here anymore... so so sad.

That's true, but that one trailer for MO is better than any other trailer for DF. And it's not pre-rendered, it's a scripted in-game video. Melanko's Gamer Blog |

Truth is that "big names" in gaming world fallowing same pattern when doing MMOs, thats why you have grindfests etc. For my self i can say that im waiting for Fallen Earth, Darkfall, Jumgate and some other promising games...and they will bring reall fresh stuff to gaming world --------------------> |

The polygon count is way, way too high to be playable. it's a pre-rendered animation sequence made in 3dsmax or maya using some of their game assets. they even say so at the end of the trailer - "using in-game models". if it were real-time rendering it would say "using actual gameplay". |
