I'm excited about the game, and it can be something great for many people. I hope they make it hard honestly. Lineage II always has a special place in my gaming collection and i'm going to resub with Gracie until Aion comes out and try it for myself. For the right crowd it could be the last stand, and for the wrong crowd well they can stick with WoW, AoC, or WAR. |

Aion doesn't seem like a hardcore game like L2. I doubt NCSOFT would make a game that would directly compete with its flagship series (Lineage). L3 will be the hard core grinding game they focus on after Aion has launched IMVHO.

I dunno about that... they made lin2 to compete with lin1, and both of those games have better income than any of their other games. Check out my site - www.pyroamos.com |

i think that aion is really the dark horse in there years releases . with high profile games like warhammer and conan its gone pretty overlooked by a lot of people . that could be a good thing because expectations wont be as high . so if aion is a great game it will come out of the blue to most people . conan suffered from people building it up in thier minds only to find the reality was a buggy game and a lets say faulty game engine . if warhammer goes the same way aion maybe the last stand for quite some time . |

Isn't it funny how these things sort themselves out? |

I'm looking forward to this game, so far the combats looks very nicely done and highly dynamic. The GFX is drop dead gorgeous yet not very needy, yet again the gameplay also seems to be just perfect, so it's not just an "eye candy with nothing behind".
I won't be following Aion really heavy because i hate waiting so i rather be like "oh crap Aion releases in 2 days??!!! OMG YES! Thank you jesus baby boy!" Or perhaps a friend crashing into my apartment in a truck and yelling "DUDE!!! Aion was just released, why are you here sleeping?! Lets go!".
Same goes for D3, though that's not a mmo but it's one hell of a net-game, well the previous 2 were atleast.
But i've read about as much information i could when i was mega hyped about this game, and i loved what i saw/read so dearly and so much that they really have to screw it up badly to make me not buy this game. |

Hmmm... Aion looks pretty, the combat seems nice and there seems to be plenty of content. I guess my biggest issues will be: 1. Grinding...yes I know Beta testers have said that there isn't much grinding incomparison to Lineage etc. but people have diiferent opinions as to what "isn't much" quanitifies as, I guess the only way to tell will be when it finally comes out lol. 2. Community, as great as any MMO is, it needs a solid community to bind it together. Judging by these forums there certainly seems to be a decent bunch of people, just hope that the game gets a decent amount of PR and the numbers fill out ^.^ 3. How it all ties together. Aion clearly is trying to bring in lots of different (and cool) aspects from mmos and wrap them up under one nice shell and advance them. The kicker will be how well it meshes. eg. The mixing of different abilities from classes = nice. However, no matter how many combinations there are, if a few turn out to be a cut above the rest then these will become the norm (and the core of every guide on places like gamefaqs) and so the possibility of individualism suddenly becomes very narrow. Flight in combat as well, could make for some sweet tactical decisions but could also lead to problems as well (unfair advantage for certain classes)... although it would be hilarious to see a massive group of people hold off and then all use flight at the same time to lead a charge into the enemy... but I digress. Lots of nice features are cool but if they don't come together than it means nothing.
I really am looking forward to this game. Personally I think this has been an amazing year for MMOs. AoC got screwed at launch but it's still a game many people enjoy. WAR is on the horizion and is looking nice and Mythic know how to do RvR (plus the lore of Warhammer is so deep that the game could evolve into something very special over the years) and now Aion, which could be the underrated dark horse that upsets everyone. Lots of people are say they are dissappointed with this and that and that they won't be playing this, or they're waiting for that, but by the start of 2009 we might actually have a set of MMOs that suite the vast majority of the fans of the genre (a different flavour ice cream for everyone eh). My social life is gonna take a dent... again... ^.^;;; |

Ayase mentioned Aion being at GC next month as an opportunity for the European community to get a look. North Americans, don't feel left out. NCAustin will be showcasing Aion at the Penny Arcade Expo next month. Feel free to drop by the NCsoft booth for a chance to get some nifty swag, chat with members of the NA Aion team but most of all, an opportunity to play Aion and form your own opinions on the game. kieron |
