After all is said and done, a lot more will be said than done.

Simply, just trying to be constructive, could anyone list 5 things you would like to see improved upon in the game. Within reason.

Plz no shut the game down, fire the director, get rid of instances, free downloads.

Im talking core game, things you thought could be done better.

Just keep it simple. 5 things

Here's mine.

1. More diversity in armor,

2. U.I. Interface improvements, easier to navigate.

3. Sky - looks great in places - where are the clouds though? make the sky look as good as the water.

4. Items - drops need to be more useful

5. Crafting, make it easier to get into, and have more depth.

Cheers!

  • less Instancing (a LOT less)
  • Armor Stats that makes sense and armor quality drops depending on mob (boss: better armor)
  • Better UI (functionable)
  • Better patches to improve central coding issues to make FPS more stable
  • A better candidate selection process for their customer service team (GMs, Moderators, Customer Support, etc)

Good list I'd agree with.  but I'd add the following.

1. More content past lvl 40.  It is very linear after 40 and the quantity of solo quests thins out to the point where you are stuck doing repeatable villa quests.

2. Dump the combo keys from the combat system or make the combos drive the abilities.  My preference is to drop them altogether and let the shield/directionality of combat and the interactivity be the driver.  At lower levels I found the melee combat a lot of fun at higher lvls I found the combos tedious and a negative that were a big factor in my quiting.

3. Make group instances all unique to the group and not shared.  Cistern series of dungeons could have been great if they were not farmed and a pain to do quests.

4. I'm prove the rewards xp wise for grouping.  As it was when I played grouping was not well done in that you could exploit it for xp or in a normal group it didn't give good enough xp all around.

5. Inventory system needs serious work.  The one bag appoach really sucks.  I dumped stuff on the ground by the ton because I could never carry much.  They need to add multiple bags and give them multiple pages of inventory space.

6. The harvesting system needs to be changed to be more like wow or vanguard where the spawns are not static but someone random.  I know they are static in these other games also but they are static spawn nodes with far less actual spawns.   Change the frequency or rares too.  I harvested several hundred slate or whatever it was and never got the rare one.  This is kinda out of wack.  Although it didn't matter since at the time crafting really didn't work.  Not sure if they ever fixed it.

7. Drop apprenticing and add mentoring.   As a high lvl person I'd like to be able to help lower level people advance through content that is appropriate to them rather then having them help me advance.  Also it is nice to go back and finish content you might have missed rather then helping lower level bypass content that is appropriate to them ruining the fun of new content when they are level appropriate.

"I don''t care! I''m gonna eat somebody."

  1. Fix the memory leak, for real, for all rigs within reason of the specs. Other games have done it.
  2. Itemization. This NEEDS attention.
  3. Class-specific armors, many many more types of armor.
  4. End any class being able to one-shot any other class. It's MMO PvP, not Counter Strike.
  5. Activly recruit players to the test server to test patches and release them when they are ready.
  6. Most important, IMO. Communicate with the players. The lead dev, (or they could cycle devs) should be making a post once a week with things in the pipe, known issues, and general state of the game address. Then they should monitor it through the week when they can and respond.

I do not really have 5 things - I have one:

They really need to admit the game has issues and treat the playerbase with respect and maturity and act like the professional developing company they should be. Now with that said, the first thing they need to do is fire every immature, ignorant part-time, volunteer moderator and open up the channels of communication.

I would respect Funcom to no end if they would create a forum and the game devs post in it and simply say "Look the game has issues. We launched too early and we know we have issues with certain things. We are doing the best we can and we want your feedback and suggestions". Instead we get reply after reply of how many accounts were created and how good the servers were at launch. WHO THE HELL CARES?!?!? Anything that has happened in the past is pointless now. The game is in a poor state and things are not getting better.

The problem is that their forums are run like some gauntlet where volunteer mods lock threads and do not allow discussion of the game. Its simple there - critique the game and your thread is locked or deleted. I am sorry but this type of environment is going to destroy the game. Growth is in-part a learning process based on making mistakes and learning from those mistakes. So far it seems Funcom isn't learning.

Sorry Avery, I know you wanted a simple list but to me it all boils down to one thing - they need to work hard to re-establish trust between the players and Funcom.

But here is my list:

1. Fire every volunteer moderator and bring in professionalism.

2. Admit the game has issues and ACTIVELY ask for and use player suggestions.

3. Figure out why it takes me 4 hours to install the game from the dvds.

4. get rid of the stupid "free trial but you have to pay for the download" crap.

5. Work on the UI and in-game customization options.

Do that and I may consider returning. But I seriously think if they do not "fix" the game before WAR and WotLK, the game will be lucky to have 100k subs this time next year.

1.  Make crafting mean something and give crafters a role in the economy (more crafter diversity and choice)

2.  Make the world larger and more open

3.  More character customization (not only appearance but depth)

4.  More diversity amongst the classes (roles are too blended or sometimes too linear)

5.  Stop half-assing the PvP system

Mac and Xbox 360 gamer

the only I want changed is to make the game more accessable to people with mid-range computer, thus not making them have to upgrade.

Apologize for not launching with the features on the box.

Hire paid Customer Service.

Fire Gaute.

Put Craig Morrison in charge of development.

Stop doing the coding in China.
