Oh come on, GPU and CPU development is fine... For stuff like FPS and and your next best racing game. There the gfx really has a distinction to make, because the look and feel of the game mostly comes from how much you can make the game feel "real"...
But in an MMO, mechanics are a huuuge part of the game and where you draw fun from. Mechanics and atmosphere. Atmosphere comes from design choices, not from polycount or visuals. DaoC for example is still one of the most fun games with a 2001 engine. EvE is a spread sheet game with pictures, they polished it, but the engine is extremely boring after two weeks of gametime or so. Tibia, Everquest, WoW, you name it. Each and every one of those games does NOT draw any popularity out of the friggin gfx engine. Look at VG or AoC, extremely nice visuals, didn't save them from being huge failures... Meridion |

They've stated on multiple occasions that the animations are still being polished. And I must say, WoW characters definitely don't run naturally. Wherever you got that idea, God alone knows. |

OK ...Those who don't believe the bad animations and walking speeds. All watch that video. Wind up to 1 minute 10 seconds (until the wiz starts running up the stairs.) It is about a 25 step stair and he does this in just a 2 step run "floating over it". Clear isn't it ?

Wow does excaly the same thing, you know why? because it doesnt break the flow of traveling. Current MMO: Nothing |

I know what I am talking about. A character that flows up a 25 step stairs in two steps is "floating"' movement and is NOT polished at all. It is called uneasy control btw. I just compared it with some stairs in SW: the avatar there takes exaclty the same number of steps as there are stairs in Stormwind Keep. His steps even come out exactly.

I am not lying everyone can control it. I look at the video footage for 1 year now and the only thing being added are the lightning effects since about 4 months. |

Yeah, I know that game is over 20 years old. But it was very addiciting gameplay (this may not be the best example, but I think you folks are get what I am saying)..
Wow ........ M.U.L.E. I loved that game. Playing on my Commodore 64 with an old TV as my monitor. I thought that link was to a windows version of the game. : ( Certainly brings back some memories. On to the thread topic. Yes, game play is more important than graphics. But, I have a difficult time getting into a game that has bad graphics/art style. This of course is personal opinion but would be the exact reason I can't play WoW. I have tried on several occasions and can't get past the art style. Played with friends (that are still quite Wowified I might add). Played solo and tried it with my son (He can't play it either, for the same reason.) Meh ........ time will tell. I hope I can get past the fact that every time I see a video of this game "WoW" pops into my head. It doesn't just pop into my head it smacks me in the forehead. I find myself making wrinkled up nose faces at some sort of sub conscious level.

Preacher Vick is going around spreading poison and lies as always. There is very little information around the last builds (leaks etc) for non-beta testers to see. Animations have improved alot in the last 3 months - Mythic did exactly what they said they would do; use placeholders and slowly replace them. Within the next two weeks high resolution textures and a few more light maps will be introduced. Recent beta combat at Rank10 (so not many abilities yet) - ~medium graphical settings without alot of the light maps and without alot of the animation polish (looks darn good if you ask me - also knowing that the real big push comes within the next two weeks): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C9Ufni4b9UI (make sure to play with HD) |

They really should change the weapon sounds. All the "zwwwinnnnnnggg" and "twinnnnnnggggggg" and "chwinnnnnnggggg" are annoying. |

Thank you OP, this was the first video that was new to me in a long time. I like the Dwarf's little propeller backpack vanity. If I remember correctly from another video where they showed that gyrochopter pack being created. They stated they had to seek advice from Games Workshop to get approval to add it to the game. Guess they got the go ahead! It also shows thier creativity, It's nice to have useless vanity items, gives people with OCD something else to collect and people that want to feel unique just that! Good show, kudos Mythic. Loved DAoC and im sure I will love WAR equally. The one thing I hope they intergrate at some point is a website that will show guilds ranks, players stats, and all that good jazz. Im sure they will but I would like to hear an offical amen.
