All they would have to do is start classic servers. Can you imagine having a crappy product that is barely chugging along while you have the key to an amazing product you aren't using? Really blows my mind from a business stand point.

That would be like driving a barely running Pinto to work every day while you leave a Ferrari in the garage to rust away.

I remember being able to build my character any way I wanted. I remember not liking how I built my character originally, but instead of having to roll a new character I was able to just change my skills around to what I wanted.

I remember player houses, cities, and guild halls that you could decorate however you wanted.

I remember an economy driven completely by the crafters in the game.

I remember a deep crafting system that was complicated yet fun.

I remember a lot of awesome things about SWG.

But honestly, it wasn't even what the game was. It is what it could have been. What that game could have been if the bugs were ironed out and content was added instead of devoting all the time and resources of the dev team into re-writing the game every 6 months.

The game was awesome, the game could have been amazing.

My first statement still remains though. If someone could buy SWG from SOE they could instantly double the profit the game is currently making simply by adding  a couple classic servers. How can you run a business the way they are?

Congratulations!  You have successfully taken two extremes from very different timelines in the game's history to try and prove your point.  Technically and semantically you are not incorrect in your remembrances.  Now, how about a little perspective?

Broken corpse runs, yes for a few days.  When SWG was released it was very well documented that the cloning of items etc was temporary.  You were always, according to the feature set, supposed to clone before heading out, then if you died wake up in a cloning vat and run to get your items.  However it was buggy in beta and held back.  A couple weeks after launch it was brought back in for about 3 maybe 4 days.  Then it was taken back out and it dropped off the radar for htings to be brought back into the game.  With your comment you make it sound like it was that way from start to nge, which is a fabrication and misrepresentation.

Soloing krayt dragons came much further along in the game's lifecycle.  You see, one of the most wonderful things about galaxies was also an achille's heel, so to speak.  The Crafting.  Here was a system where ALL decent items in game came from other players, made with resources that 1) dynamically shifted and 2) were not equal across servers.  Unfortunately it was also a system that the developer's never really had a full handle on.  They did not realize the lengths to which people would go to amass HUGE quantities of the best resources, going so far as to work out deals with people on other servers (I come to your server, make an alt and you provide me with harvesters, I set them give you complete permissions then you come to my server and do the same, and with each resource shift we move our harvesters on each others servers).  So here we have items starting to get out of hand, weapons and armors that were godlike in quality.  Then SOE made a booboo which exacerbated the issue by including doc buffs.  The first batches were nothing special.  However, with the resources available you could get buffs where your regeneration etc were faster than the baddest of mobs damage.  This coupled with specific armors made people nigh unto invulnerable.

These were all bugs that existed in the game at different times, however, if you are a vet and are not just picking through some random guild's forum archives for what you are putting up as an argument then you must also admit that there were large scale "raids" to try and take out ancient krayts, night wich elders, goraxes and more.  That there was an interdependency amongst all kinds of players that has never been equaled before or since, and probably will not be seen again.

Were there problems with the original game?  Sure were, and there isn't a vet that will not agree with that statement.  However, the VAST majority of the vets will stand up in unison and say that the bugs from before are for more preferable to what the game was turned into.  Unfortunately the time for restitution from SOE is long passed.  Had they opened pre-cu servers a couple years ago then they could have got people back.  Now a good number of us wouldn't go back if SOE paid us, well... maybe if they paid :P

well severius i guess you are correct and while i could argue that pre-cu  issues verse post nge issues that wasnt really my point

all i am saying is that pre-cu SWG wasnt the end all be all of games it had problems major problems and while i dont think soe should have ripped the game apart twice or even once i hope we can agree that if the game had met expectations (tho i think those were set to high) the game would have never been changed
