there is something called an NDA. and yet as the release date got closer and closer, we did started to spill the beans in a way. But few wanted to listen. At release date most of us didnt spill the beans, we throw them in the air so anyone could see...result... we were the bad guys, game was great, the best MMORPG ever blablablba....

Not a big surprise tho, there are thousand that today, playing the game, still say all is well...

I tried to warn you all, check my history. I don't think warning was needed though, the crap that FC pulled (didn't lift NDA, sub required for OB, etc) should have been enough to raise some red flags.

Who to blame?

1. who designed the game?

2. who defended the game?

3. who warned after trying the game?

4. who made the first commercial reviews?

As a matter of fact MMORPG.COM was the first to put a 7.X behind the Conan game, so they did their job...

Now after two months the game is being considered a not so good MMORPG, but at launch it was "filet mignon".

Blame it on the community, who believed the hype and didn't see the ugly things it had from the very beginning.

I smile when I see now that the "heavy" defenders of Conan also left AoC, so at least they should look upon themselves and ask... why ? I know why, they only have to analyse....

DOS 6.22 - fuzzy memories...

Beta testing? You really think most of the people in any Beta are there to test?? They want the game for free (and the edge that come with it), that's for sure. They don't want anything to do with writing bug reports... Beta testing has clearly become a means of increasing the hype in MMOGs.

As for AoC, it's clear its releasing for PC as unfinished as it was, was really the Beta testing for the XBox 360. Alll the people who spent their money on the unfinished product are actually beta "testing" AoC for when it launches in the Xbox 360...

Tried: MxO, FFXI, TR, D&DO, EQ1, Archlord
Played: CoX, WoW, GW, DR, AO, SWG, EQ2
Playing: nothing
To be played: AC, DAoC, Planetside, Mabinogi, EVE, PotBS, AoC, Vanguard, Ryzom

To be fair, the bugs, exploits and various other problems were posted extensively on the beta forums. Funcom never bothered to fix them. What happened was that right before the game went live, most of the bug fixes were geared towards Tortage and the first 20 levels.

We asked about city building and end game content and were told that the internal team has a client with all end-game features working and they are having a blast. Apparently the closed beta testers had a client a few versions older than the internal testers and the Fileplanet open beta testers had a client a few versions older than the closed beta testers. The tech testers were used once a month for 3 hours or so to download a 15GB file and stress test a particular aspect of the game. The whole beta test was a travesty of epic proportions. Very often the bug report tool didn't work and most of our posts on the forums went ignored completely by the devs.

Yes, there are a lot of people who were in the beta just to play the game. However, a lot of people actually took their time to make articulate posts outlining the various glaring problems with the game. Those posts went completely ignored by the development team who continued to fix up Tortage. Basically the whole thing was like a scam.

Too many people wanting to play the game before anyone else instead of actaully testing the bloody thing? me thinks.

You post is full of ignorance and assumption.

Dude, the game is 2+ months old. It's not rushing if you reach max level by now. Besides which, everyone plays at their our pace. There is no valid speed to play a game. You play as often and as much as you like.

The fact that there is no end game content is Funcom's fault not the player's. Funcom didn't add the content. Whether or not the player took 2 days to reach max level or 2 months makes no difference. The fact of the matter is that the end game content was missing then and is still missing now and it will be missing when you reach level 80. Then you'll come back to these forums and complain about lack of content and I will link this post for you.

The theory of evolution is as much open to doubt as the theory that the earth goes round the sun.

dont be a noob. many things I reported in beta did not get fixed, how I am supposed to FORCE them?
