Will Ferrel is without a doubt one of the most overhyped type-casted actors out there. His early stuff was amazing funny and was original... This is however no longer the truth. He plays the same goddamn goofy guy over and over and over and over. He simply as far as i can tell has no acting ability and instead just uses the same material continuosly. Not unlike Adam Sandler, although Adam was considerably better at being the same. Will Ferrel just can cut it anymore, every movie he makes is increasingly cheesy and ill-concieved. There is just no substance to it. Now i am admittedly not an expert on movies or acting but i believe i can say that Will is just not up to snuff anymore. |

it is what it is. Taken at face value the guy is funny .Remember"frank the tank"?Best character in a frat movie since Belushi in animal house. Id like to see him team up with Judd Apatow. For good stupid comedy he is funny no oscar here but i dont think he is looking for 1. |

I think that most of America is sick of Will Ferrel, much like you are...his last movie completely tanked and I would wager that this new one is going to go down in flames as well.
As was said earlier, his early stuff was brilliant, but it has run its course...he was great on Saturday night live when he played different and varying characters, but that's not really the case anymore, and I just sorta feel bad for the guy for some reason (yeah, 30 mil a movie and i feel bad for him)

| There's something kinda sad about the way that things have come to be, desensitized to everything, what became of subtlety? |

I totally agree with the comment that hank the tank was a great character but again hank had his day and his ghost haunts will ferrel and pervades every role. Belushi was better tho by far, nobody can top him (see the lunch room scene in Animal House) |

I saw Will Ferrel in an interview once with I Am Ninja, it was than that I realised that he is an RL douche, you shoulda seen how unfunny he was without any material, he constantly tried to hijack the interview by being a jackass, good thing was I Am Ninja came out on top and shut him down. The interview was about that Blades of Glory movie and the guy from Napoleon Dynamite was there. I agree with the above sentiments, Will Ferrel stopped bing funny after Anchorman, he acts the exact same way over and over again and it's simply no longer amusing. |

I must admit i wrote this post originally assuming a large back lash by people who were outraged that i would ever say that about Mr. Ferrel. The result however has been totally awesome. Not a ton of responses yet but i will try to keep this post going for as long as i can. Btw i totally agree, i think i saw the same interveiw and it was indeed a sad thing to see. There is yet hope for the taste of the modern world. |

I did in fact watch that movie. To my great displeasure it was an utter flop. Here i was thinking that wow will ferrel is doing something new and he is going to be a different character that we all can appreciate. This was however only slightly the case. He was different but there was still this overtone like despite what the movie was attempting to make him act out he was still trying to fight it at every turn. Again he just cant act... He is what he is |

He is what he is "Stranger Than Fiction" was an incredible movie, and a stunning performance by Will Ferrel. I'm not sure he could pull it off again, but I totally bought his performance in that role (and seeing Will Ferrel without thinking 'cowbell' is incredibly hard for me).
I agree the comedy template he seems to follow (much like Adam Sandler) is wasted film. |

Id like to see Will Ferrell try to do some more dramatic roles. Robin Williams is a truly funny guy but a fantastic dramatic actor. Go and rent "What dreams may come" or "Bicentennial man" and you will see what i mean. |
