LEC didn't force SOE to implement the NGE, they allowed them to do it.  The NGE was concieved by the SOE development team, and LEC approved its implementation.

Sorry, the folks who were involved in creating the abortion known as the NGE have said who instigated it.  It was SOE's baby.  There was no directive from LEC that forced SOE to implement the NGE.

For some reason, the leak by EA's CEO about Bioware's MMO has cause a large increase in the "LucasArts forced SOE to do it!" canard, and the lesser used, but just as false, "It was the players' fault!" explanations for the genisis of the NGE.

Well yeah, think about it, at this point, SOE's reputation has been tarnished so much, they're trying to save face as much as they can, especially considering that not only will they end up loosing the SW license, but also if they don't do something to save SOME of their reputation, then their upcoming MMO's (the Agencey and DC U and Free Realms) will obvisouly bomb, so at this point they're just trying to receover as much as they can so that they're upcoming games don't bomb as bad. Unfortunately for them though, it won't do a lick of good. Their tarnished reputation goes beyond what they did to SWG, it's also due to how they behave as a company, and I don't think enough people will end up buying their PR crap to try their games.

The topic isn't really a dead horse, since all the dysfunction at SOE that caused the NGE is still present.

now the 2 of you are showing that you 2 are just fanbois who don't want pre-cu back and would rather talk about how to make the nge better or kotor online if it ends up being a level based borefest

if anyone wants pre-cu back now is the time to run the fanbois off the forums along with there fanbot masters. if you want cool pvp and jedi back then support us true vets in getting our game back.

How isn't this a dead horse?  How many times are people going to cry about their beloved SWG?  I loved it, played it, it got butchered... I moaned, I moved on.

The NGE can't be made better (it is limited by thye horrible core game, it can't even be made 'not bad') and I wouldn't go back to an SOE ran pre-CU server since I won't pay for any product that SOE earns revenue from.  I just realize that Bioware's game is going to resemble Bioware's other game much more than it resembles pre-CU SWG.  Considering I enjoy Bioware's other games, I don't have much of a problem with it.

If Bioware does incorporate some sandbox elements I'll be pleasantly surprised.  I just don't feel that Bioware has to make up for SOE's mistakes.  Hell, most of the ex-SWG developers at Bioware left SOE because SOE was making those mistakes.
