Experience is simply the name we give our mistakes.

Call me old fashioned, but I always really liked being the guy with the glowing druid mace in EQ or the guy with a huge battleship in EVE and so on and so forth.

The idea of player customization in WAR came up in a previous post of mine.  I hadn't previously considered this to be a big deal because customization has been such a huge part of other games.  Everquest is the best example I can think of (EQ 1) just because I played it the longest, but nearly every person wore something different and looked completely different.

For me, this is neither here nor there, merely a part of gameplay that I've previously taken for granted.  It seems that in WAR the stress has been placed on tactical and strategy customization rather than looking extremely different from person to person.

This seems to go hand-in-hand with the idea of the board game, in that people are less unique (fighting in similarly painted squads) and more a part of a bigger fight.

Personally, I'm excited to see the reaction to a new emphasis, since it has always seemed to me that a good tactic is universal and will spread like wildfire throughout the game.  I'm interested to see if the game is truly so tactically customizable that no one tactic can dominate other tactics to an unreasonable degree.

Better!

People paint armies and squads their own colors in the table top. Now you will be able to do the same especially for a guild. Carry your own banner and have the same armor colors it will look more like an army now.

You will also know what guild you are up against and if they are a good one their colors and banner will make their presence felt even before the battle begins

well just my thoughts any way.

If its anything like DAOC this will be true.  All three realms on My DAOC server each had 3-4 guilds that people considered "Badass".  And the cool thing is you would know it if they rolled up on you because of the uniqueness of the colors of every guild.

Also, you roll past a keep and it was taken from a certain guild and you seen couple of them up top flashing their colors  you knew you probably needed to move to the next keep if you didn't have the numbers.

Fun times indeed!

You can also add trophies to your char that you earn from quests, killing mobs, ect. Some will  be very rare some more common.

You have dyes and trophies to make you look different from others in your class.

Here to end your arguments.

Dies some only available by doing specific things in the game such as red, blood red, trophies that can be put anywhere noticeable on your body, trophies on Guild banner, which Its look is also custimizable but thats guild uniqueness. Some other stuff Im sure Mythic will add in over time.

No such thing as luck, just believing in it is what makes it real to you and really...thats all you need.

Im on nobodies' side but my own.

It is a color scheme, not just one color. You can use multiple colors in your schemes. So say three guilds use green and blue. One guild could be doing green arms and the rest blue. Another guild could be using green gloves and green boots with the rest blue. The Third could be blue helmets and rest green.

There are so many color schemes you can do. Also, with banners and cloaks you have up to two different colors, multiple color patterns, multiple banner/cloaks shapes, and  choice of many insignias to keep your guild unique.

Definitly better.

The 2 Tone peice by peice armor dying system (every major peice can have 1 to 2 colors used on it ) and the trophies alone blow any game thats been released in the past 2 to 3 years gear customization away.

Dye's can be made, bought (in standard colors from vendors), then there's colors that are only available through unlocks including guild unlocks...then there's guild banners, cloaks, etc.

Add trophies which there are thousands to find and unlock that you can hang i think in over 20 different possible places on your toon (up to i believe they said 5 at a time)....totally awsome.

No idea if the talismen system works like most game's enchant system where it adds a glow...I dont think it does though they seemed adamently opposed to the over glowy kiddie look to weapons.

While it looks as if hair and facial wise there's not a huge choice in who really looks & memorizes that?  I don't remember people by their toon's face but rather their gear (or name).  Just so happens tho that alot of games recently everyone had the same sets of gear and no way to customize it so you had to go simply by their name. (cough wow)

Is it over yet...

Its rather impressive to see in action. One thing I noticed was that items mesh together even when there different levels and different kinds. Very beautiful in my opinion. Colors tend to be secondary to me. I tend to like Greens and Browns.
