I cant play lotro anymore. The game has become way too boring for me. I loggod on for the first time in about two months tonight and couldn't take it anymore. It reminds me to much of WOW. This is the same feeling i got after two months of playing WOW. Not sure why it took me so long to realize this. I am going to stop playing mmo's for a while. Mostly just waiting for a good sci-fi mmo. I think i'll go play gta4 on my 360. Blowing up cop cars with a rocket launcher just makes the day seem better, or running over helpless civilians. There are plenty of good single player games for the pc and 360 i havent played yet. |

Hello OP what is the point of this thread? Maybe you could tell us your story why it became boring? |

Even if he doesn't explain ... I can sort of get where he's coming from. I'm in the trial, I'm at level 8, and I'm just so bored of questing that I haven't logged in since yesterday. And I started the trial yesterday. ;) |

This is mainly how I too felt when I played. Its unfortunate timing really as if this came out before say EQ2 or Vanguard I would not be so inclined to be "bored". Just myself, have spent so much time questing in these other games that by the time I reached LoTR.... I just didn't have it in me to do it all over again. |

Of course you're bored with LoTRO, it's a simple game set in easy mode for begiiners. |

Agree with both of you, the game is not bad if they release it 5 years ago. The whole grind / quest in fantasy world just lost the magic for me. Also, this game bring nothing new, it play just like Everquest or WoW. Still waiting for WAR and see how it goes, if it turns out to be bad, I think I will leave MMO for good. Most of the so call "new ideas" from Mystic are not new but will see how it turns out. |

Ok gz everyone you seem to be the exact crowd lotro is not aimed at. Some of us actually dont think its fun to camp a gate for hours or mine all night long or to do 6h raids to get a peice of set that's only feature is to glow in the dark and look bling bling I'm not a no life that sits in front of his computer all day long, I'm an intern that sits in front of his computer all day long. |

Weeeeell, I'm glad we can agree. Gatecamping is boring. Mining is boring. 6 hour raids are boring. Questing/level grind is boring. Reputation grind is boring. What crowd are MMO's aimed at? People willing to waste their time on crap? Then, no, I'm probably not part of that crowd. |

I agree, also LOTRO is not part of that crowd? Quest / level grind - check Raids in pvp zone - check Mining - check trade skills grind - check

Some people like it some not, simple as that. Some people like chocolate ice cream, others don't. Does this make chocolate ice cream bad? Why do people always put "I don't like INSERT MMO HERE" == "This is a bad MMO"? I never understood that. It is, as always, a personal opinion if you like a game or not. It is not a quality issue with the MMO. *shakes head*

LOTRO has a slow pace. Because of the slow pace, the community is very mature. To those who say it's too easy, delete all your green and yellow quests and just do orange and red quests. Same with mobs, just stick to orange or higher mobs.

Well, for one thing the game opens up in the late teens. Shouldn't be that way but it is. And it is a quest based game that revolves around a main story. It is what it is. If you don't like it then great but there are people who do like this type of game. Myself included. I also think that because it has less "flash" than other games that some people might not be able to warm up to it. No worries there but it is a far more sublime game than what is out there. |

I think its too much sameness in these quest base, fantasy mmo. Like some of you say, they didnt really bring any thing new to the table. And the same end-game content, raid-or-die.... sign..... RIP Orc Choppa |

I kind of know what the OP means. It is the same feeling I have had with almost every single MMO since Dark Age of Camelot came out. Everquest 2 - Vanguard - Age of Conan - CoH/CoV - Guild wars - EvE - D&D Online - FFXI - Hellgate London - Lineage 2 - Pirates of the Burning Sea - RF Online - Archlord - Star Wars Galaxies - Tabula Rasa - World of Warcraft -
Every single one bored me and I only pushed on through some of them to play with friends who were playing. (WoW, AoC)
I do like LOTRO but I find I need to play it extremely casually or I get burnt out on it as well. Last game I was actually able to play non-stop was Asheron's Call 1. Also the best MMO I have ever played.
Currently playing: Looking Foward too: |

I'm disappointed with the OP. He missed out on making his topic based on a great parody of lotr. 'Bored of the Rings'

I can actually see how some people could potentially be 'bored' with LOTRO, but to me it seems these are the same people who prefer a comic book to a novel. LOTRO seems to be the only online game out there that offers an actual, lenghty, in-depth story that you become a part of, and that's why I (and many others I know) are hooked. It goes deeper than 'quest and craft' gaming and becomes real 'entertainment', like a good book or a movie where you control the action, or at least your part of it, and you just want to see what happens next! Every patch I look forward to how they are going to move the storyline along, but I also look forward with deep excitement to what MY PART in that story is. It's the only game out there that engages me like that, that's what keeps me from getting bored. Sure, if you just focus on 'ome more quest, one more mining node, one more piece of armour' it might get boring, but if you look at the game as the developers want you to, I think it opens up a whole new level and depth to the game.
When scary things get scared, that's bad... |
