I just read in the MMORPG article that 4 major/RvR raidable cities and 4 melee classes will not be on the release. Also Mytic's name has been changed from EA Mythic to Mythic Entertainment. This shows that they have been having problems with EA (probably due to the pushing of release date further).

Wtf?

I am sad now. I wanted to play a Choppa in my own Greenskin city. RvR with 1 city per faction sounds very ugly.

I hope they sort their stuff before release, because I won't be playing the game with half of its content taken away.

Osbourne Cox: I know very well what you represent. You represent the idiocy of today.

Ted Treffon: No, I don't represent that either.

Osbourne Cox: You are part of a league of morons. Oh, yes. You see you're one of the morons I've been fighting my whole life. But guess what. Today, I win.

E Unum, Pluribus

This is somewhat old news now, but by no-means was it a cut due to pressure from EA. To quote Jeff Hickman on the cuts:

Hickman also notes that the decision was taken many months ago, and is very far from being a last-minute fix. Given the extremely solid state of the game in the current beta phase, as we see it at E3, it's easy to believe him. Latter-level content is the only major unknown at this point, but the likelihood that Mythic and EA will leave it to the sort of hairy, down-to-the-wire scramble of Age of Conan's release is next to non-existent. These men mean business, and their game is coming together beautifully. Ladies and gentlemen, we have a contender.

The content was cut simply because the mechanics didn't work the way mythic wanted, and because they were just, not fun. Apparently, a guildmate has a friend that's working on WAR and he says the at least the Dwarf captiol is finished, but needs to really be fine-tuned and polished.

To quote an awesome post in a similar thread: Why release 6 Podunks when you can wait and have 6 NYCs?

And really, half the content wasn't cut. There are still 20 classes, 2 cities, PQs, over 30 scenarios, 80 RvR ranks (and 40 PvE ranks), 3 unique masteries per career, crafting, ect...

My real concern with them axing 4 capitals is that the overall RvR realm war will suffer as a result. Focusing all the players down one avenue of conflict tends to lead to stagnation and helps empower the zerg. However, there's no real way of critically evaluating just how drastically this narrowing of focus effects the realm war until the game is live and has had a few months to mature.

I certainly don't want boring, half-finished content, but anything which could detract from making RvR engaging and fun is anathema to this game.

to sum it again !

4 mellee classes are cut and we may newer see them! There is now 10 mellee and 10 ranged. That's hopefully a good enoug balance to avoid a range based mmo. I don't think the game lack content in class selection because of this, but ofcause everyone have the right to be sad about missing favorite classes.

2 cities paring confrontations are delayed. And they will come. the cities are in as are all zones and battlefiel objektives! The end game city conflict will be limited to empire/chaos until they  2 others are done.

This is again properly not a big deal as Mythic have stated  that a city siege should happend properly once a month. This leaves the game with some month with only empire chaos capital being fought!  But face it in a 1/2 year thats 6 times that confict are open for maybe a day or 2. Count the ones that would be missed because of normal life activities and i doubt that anyone will be bored of the same challange yet

My quess is that most players would not even notice that they have not been in from the start, if they come when a 1/2 year is gone.

I share your same concerns as well.

People argue that being focused down one avenue is fun but to me that is boring.  The dynamic nature of the game with the way it was originally planned to be has drastically changed.  We will have those that deny this claim but it will be self evident as launch nears.

"War is messy!"

they announced it now so you can cancel your preorder if you want.  it won't be sorted out before release, so you should cancel if you feel this is too much taken out.

that is why they said it now and not 3 days before release date.

So long as you are open to the idea that it may verry well not have effected things diffrently. Regardless no one will ever really know. You didnt get to play it with all 6 cities so how could you possibly know its worse with only 2 cities? It may verry well be, but it may verry well not be. Only time will tell.

I don't pre-order MMORPG's because I do not like jumping head first without looking where I will be landing.
