fyi KOTOR wont be a sandbox MMO

Read the devs comments over at bioware. All they talk about is how great WoW is. The KOTOR rpg wasnt a sandbox game, it was extremely linear and controlled.

KOTOR will be a linear quest driven MMO I guarantee it

The game isnt totally announced yet!!!
Once it is we wont see it for 3-5 years anyway.

not true
KOTOR started around Feb 2006 so its over halfway complete. Expect a release around 2010

My understanding is the first couple of years is spent developing technology. Since Bioware licensed technology - Heroengine and some other technology they could release earlier.

Look at WAR - its possibly out this year after starting development in 2005 leveraging off the DaoC engine.

Portfolio.com is quoting Electric Arts' CEO John Riccitiello as confirming a Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic MMO. Judge for yourself:

N. Evan Van Zelfden in Los Angeles warns, watch out World of Warcraft. In an interview at E3 this week, Electronic Arts chief executive John Riccitiello said that EA is working on the next version of Star Wars game Knights of the Old Republic, and it will most certainly have a massively multiplayer online component to it.

"We've got two of the most compelling MMOs in the industry in development," said Riccitiello. The first title, based on the Warhammer property, will launch soon. "And the one that people are dying for us to talk to them about -- in partnership with Lucas, coming out of BioWare, which is, I think, quite possibly the most anticipated game, full stop, for the industry at the point when we get closer to telling you about it."

Does Riccitiello mean the oft rumored Knights of the Old Republic Online? "Yes," he said.

Do the Bartle test today!

I fail to understand the OP to 100% but if the qustion is: Will KOTOR be any good?

Then the answer is: Yes it will be a huge success.

And for the nonbelievers I will say this: You just have to have faith in BioWare.

Honestly saying wether there will be dual lightsabers, only jedis is just some sort of mental masturbation.

that would be the single most retarded thing ever. i could see sith or "evil" characters attacking anyone, but a jedi attacking anyone they chose? that should never happen.

the only way it has "ffapvp" is if you get penalties for attacking people unprovoked and you become evil.

starwars is about the conflict between good and evil, not attacking anyone you chose or doing anything you want regardless of your alignment.

No offense Rogue420, but I don't understand why people with that mindset are even looking at mmoRPG's instead of playing multiplayer combat games... try Lord of the Rings Conquest when it comes out...

Sorry, but it is completely ludicrous to vote on a game no one, but the developers know anything about.  Even the developers don't know what the final game will be, they are still designing it.

Everyone here will just have to wait and see.  Bioware is not invulnerable to producing a flop, just like everyone else.  With Lucas Arts involved who knows what will happen.

So I am glad you are excited about the game and speculate all you want on what it will be, but lets not try judging it before we try it at least.

True freedom only exists in abstract thinking.

Most of you fail to see the point in the logic presented here.

HOW are you even saying look at KOTOR and that play style, they are two completely different genre of video games. RPG and MMORPG. They aren't going to make a single player game with just multiplayer aspects.

I'm not judging what I'm saying on speculation, I'm judging it on the current state of the industry and the previous MULITPLAYER titles that Bioware has developed.

NWN is a great example, with tons of sandbox aspects.

And as far as what I mean by sandbox: The ability to manipulate the world, and change your character regardless of class to give it strengths and weaknesses depending on what the player wants, not what the developers have pre-programmed into a class.

With the timeframe that bioware was given in the star wars universe, the possiblities are endless.

As for FFA pVp it would make sence! Just becuase your a good person, that doesn't stop you from killing anybody if you'd like, sure you may become a fugitive, but thats the way it should be, what other reason is there to play MMOs :D.
