I notice the european community manager posts quite a bit in here.  However, the U.S. community manager is rarely (if ever) seen on here.  Is there a community manager for the U.S.  A lot of us over here are very interested in the game, yet, it feels like the U.S. market does not even matter.

Oh yeah, there is ^^

His name is kieron, worked previously as CM in EVE online, he is probably the one sending stuff to this site (artworks, news, etc).

There's a lot more to being a Community Coordinator than writing on the forums, but I have to agree that Ephimero seems to be doing a great job in feeding information here. ;)

Worth noting is that kieron (who, as mentioned, is our NA Community Manager for Aion) also runs a Dev-blog on our official US site.

Personally, I would hire someone like Ephimero to be Community Coordinator if I were in charge of Aion. :)

Ah, ok.  I still find it interesting that the European community manager responds sticking up for the U.S. community manager ;)

So far, this is the MMO I am most looking forward too.  It has a solid mix of features that I really like.  Also, being under a lighter NDA speaks volumes about the game.  The fact that beta testers are happy with it (taking into account various tweaking that will happen until release).

My biggest fear though is that Aion will remain under the radar until just before release.  Most American MMO players still have the preconcieved notion 'it's just another Korean grinder'.  Also, while youtube and all that is great for word of mouth marketting, the average 'Joe' will not go out of their way to find out this information.  However, if the game has more of a marketing presence, and makes it a point to mention questing, wings, fortresses, you can choose not to grind, etc.  then that might go a long way towards fixing these preconcieved notions.

It will be great once Aion is out of the 'hardcore mmo gamer' mindset.  None of my friends (all gamers) have any idea Aion even exists.  When I do try to enlighten them and mention it's from Korea they immediately say 'grinder'.

We should not expect  that every community manager of a game is monitoring every single site together, every cm is checking the very same site and respond if they were called.

We should not expect that the european cm will  alert the american one in these cases, to register, be familiar with the community of a specific, previously not visited site just so we can get the very same answer the european one can give to us.

:)

Usually, things dont work that way - especially not before the actual start of the ad works.

(ofc that doesnt rule out the possibilty that the american cm is here aswell, but it doesnt really matter whos gonna answer if the answer would be the very same.)

Every cm has his own stuff to do, every cm is monitoring different sites (to cover  as much areas as they can), and every cm represents each other under the same company.

These guys have a lot of things to do beside reading forums we just cant expect that every single one of them is everywhere. This applies not just for Aion CMs, but cms of every game.

Theres nothing personal in these lines, its not really a response to your quoted sentence, just ive felt we should be reminded how hard is to be a cm and how things really works in these cases.

I didn't realize that 3rd party sites needed one. If AION is going to have official forums then I don't really think this forum would matter at all except for rare PR crap.

Games I've played:
AoC, EQ2, WoW, Vangaurd, LoTRO, D&DO, Lineage 2, Saga Of Ryzom, EvE Online, DAoC, Guild Wars, Star Wars Galaxies, Auto Assault, Grando Espada ( AKA SoTNW ), Archlord, CoV/H.

Games I Am Currently Playing:

EVE Online

Well my question was answered :)

There is a community manager for the U.S.  Some community managers are more active in 3rd party forums than others (or they have split the forums between them).  Which makes sense.

I can't wait for the game to release (well I can wait along enough for it be polished).  Aion is pretty close to what I have envisioned as the MMO I would love to create :)
