Lord of the Rings Online Stable and functioning game. Rock solid game in terms of reliability. Lots of massive, free conent. Whole new maps added every few months like Evendim, Farochel. New gear. New quests. Easy going player community compared to my other MMO experiences. As far as the free conent goes, Turbine will be putting out in a few hours, on July 22, another large update to introduce another map area. All this done before the game has even put out its first expansion pack, which itself is due later this year. "I have only two out of my company and 20 out of some other company. We need support, but it is almost suicide to try to get it here as we are swept by machine gun fire and a constant barrage is on us. I have no one on my left and only a few on my right. I will hold." While I do not contest the fact that there are hundreds, if not thousands of MMORPGs (depending on how loose one's definition is), there are a very small number of premium ones. I could play dozens of different poorly-translated, grindtastic Korean MMORPGs that are about as deep as a puddle, but I choose not to. For some, those are great, for the rest, there are not many options. There are fewer than 10 thriving, actively developed premium MMORPGs right now, in my opinion. This means there really are not that many options for those who do not want to play games like MapleStory. It is tough to be an MMORPG fan, sometimes. There are, at best, three or four large releases per year, and we are lucky if even one turns out well. It is nice to be an FPS fan, as you get a good release every single month. If WAR fails (and I doubt it well, honestly, and I am not one to believe in much), there is not much left to look forward to within the next year.
The problem is, you shoot one shotgun, you shot them all. So what good are many releases of FPS, if all are the same. RPG is much more deaper, therefore the small number of releases and the even smaller success rate.

Going back to EQ2. Better PVP for sure and they are always coming out with updates every couple of months to refine the game more. AOC just did not do it for me. |
