The inherent problem with this can get rather tricky. If one were to go by the lore, very few single humanoid opponents would stand a chance against a fully trained force user without the benefit of extreme foreplanning and fortuitous circumstances, even fewer of those could manage it without some aptitude for force use, however untrained.

On the other hand, Jedi and Sith are trained almost from infancy, the concept of an untrained adult, especially one without an extremely high force connection, going *poof* "I'm a Jedi now!" is unusual if not rediculous in the extreme.   Did you ever play the first game?   You didn't start as a Jedi there.   thousands of them doing it...

In an MMO, one must allow for at least some balance between the various character options. I think we can all agree that true equality is a pipe dream, but some effort must be made. At the same time, bringing jedi and their counterparts down to the level of the common man is insulting at best.

This leaves us with few options:

A.) No force users period, disappointing to many, but maybe best all around. There is huge potential within the Star Wars universe without even touching the Jedi and their world.

B.) All are force users, this would unfortunately cut off a great deal of options, particularly in the RP bit of MMORPG

C.) The choice is yours to become a Jedi or not.

Now, what can be done, if not easily, would be to expand upon option B, your basic class category choices being Jedi, Sith, Force Trained, and one or two other groups designed to counter force users, for instance the Echani warriors, who are trained to be immune to mind techniques, can be brought in. Of course, there would be a number of classes falling under each heading. The first two would have a limited ability to swap between themselves, with the third being weakest in actual force abilities, but a much greater range of other skills.

thank you some had to say it!  Side note NGE didnt prove that the majority of players wanted to play jedi. Just drove out most of the original players... i wont say more because i think it will be bad.

Here to end your arguments.

Why not make it an unlockable class say I reach max lvl on another toon and unlock a jedi class that way It will let people try something different and to their surprise may like it and may not touch the jedi or atleast switch back to his main there and again. Give the jedi ranks and different robes for the ranks to make the jedi feel more unique.Remember in KOTOR if you didnt have cheats or Mods you always wanted your character to have a Master Robe on but could never find one until the end of the game. It could be like that as a jedi class.

No such thing as luck, just believing in it is what makes it real to you and really...thats all you need.

Im on nobodies' side but my own.

Listen this shit is simple.

If they do release the KOTOR MMO. I can 100% promise you, hell I will bet you a million dollars cash, Jedi will be playable from the start.

Yes there will be a million Jedi running around the galaxy. Who cares, during the time frame of KOTOR, the jedi flourished, they had schools and academies all across the galaxy, there were literally thousands of jedi or force sensitive people in this time frame.

They will make Jedi playable from start, they will diversify the Jedi into specific classes.

You will start as a padawan, and train yourself up to be guardian, consular, or sentinel. You will have to pick a path and train up your skills just like all the other classes in the game.

They even branch out further in KOTOR with Jedi Master, Jedi Weapons Master, and Jedi Watchman.

On the sith side you have Sith Assassin, Sith Lord and Sith Marauder. I am pretty sure all these classes will be implemented as well. To give MUCH diversity to the Jedi wannabe's of the world.

I am sure they will have Mandalorian, Bounty Hunters, Entertainers, Smugglers, Swoop Bikers, Swoop Bike mechanics, who the hell cares!

Point is it will have a ton of classes to choose from, it will have jedi from the start and if you can't handle that don't play the damn thing.

I have played Bioware games from the dawn of bioware, I have logged more hours in the KOTOR series than is healthy. Bioware doesn't change what works, it also doesn't change it story or play book because a few people want Jedi to be the 1 3 3 7.

They made KOTOR what it is today. They know what they are doing, no KOTOR game has been bad. So they already earn some brownie points off that alone.

The only thing that concerns me about this game is the mechanics. They will have to steer away from their current combat system formula because it will not work in an MMO enviroment, and all bioware games use the same combat system. Which concerns me a little. They will need to make some new fluid combat system for this game to work properly.

I have faith in the Bioware tho, they have never made a shitty game in my eyes.

Jedi will almosr certainly be playable form the start, I imagine. All this stuff about making it for 'elite  players' (read:people who can afford to spend lots of time playing computer games) or limiting the number per server is all just a way of saying "I want to be a Jedi, but I want to be special and don't want everyone else to be one". To those putting forward such views, I bet most of you will play Jedi if thats an option. So why shouldn't everyone else.

The fact is, the timeframe of KotOR supports the idea of lots of Jedi in a way SWG didn't (and therefore in SWG the whole idea of a Jedi playable class was gauranteed to cause problems). Also, the majority of people playing an Star Wars MMO are going to want to roll Jedi (or at least have the option). No business (including Bioware) is going to put off massess of potential customers by telling them "Hey yeah it's Star wars, but no - you can't be a Jedi!"

Not going to happen

This game is about Jedi. Why would they not want you to start as one?

Far as I can see, the point of this game is to play the game as a Jedi and it would be stupid not to start as one or at the very least, become one after a tutorial.

how do you know the point of the game when we dont even know the name? We know the suspected name and they minus'd the word "Knights".... Its an MMO there is no "point" to the game. have you played an MMO before? DO you just rerun missions and quests all day? DO you hang out with guildies talk about setups, PVP, PVE, hell RP? Its an MMO...

Bah seriously an all jedi game would become the dullest E-peen fest of all time lol. It would seem like gods gift at first but after a year of it you guys will be bleeding for diversity beyond what you have. You can only flesh out jedi/sith so far until the classes just become a joke.

It would like adding water to the soup so you can make a few more bowls....

Do you really expect to play the "Jedi Hero", next to 300 000 other Jedi Heroes ?....

WTB sandbox, please.

no but the idea of the day/night cycle that conan did for the first 20 levels was awesome..

to be honest i'd much rather see a single player rpg with similiar abilities like I saw in fable 2 for inviting your friends into your game.

I think i'd enjoy that much more, as it stands though..  we'll have to see how it goes.  My money though is that in the end a star wars mmo is a mistake.
