For bounty hunters Swashbuckler (melee) Sniper,  Survival. Huge character customization, including many different body sets,armor,and weapons. A fun and easy to use crafting system. (crafting should be a job not a class..) A real GCW including battle zones, scheduled attacks, massive colliding forces..  Real ranking system with some sort of visible thing that shows your rank. Areas some ranks aren't aloud. REAL spys including infiltrating meetings and intercepting transmission , not a funny looking mask and invisible...  simple starting classes that can evolve to new classes. Jobs should provide a good steady income, but why work when you can steal? Structures that can be placed and have a real sense of ownership. Like guards you pay to watch over your compound. And being able to shoot anything on your land without an invitation. Building strategic command posts to aide your side. A structure system that knows when you havent logged on in awhile and your structures slowly degrade so theres no empty structures laying around . Good guild system that really offers depth within the guild. Testing server that offers all items free. A in-grossing story that can be told a hundred times. Choices within the storyline.

 

And ill post more when I get feedback on this.

 

why not just type A bug-fixed Pre NGE SWG ?

Yea I understand the timeline., its just I want a SWG without Jedi :)  But to those who want a Jedi MMO, hope this does it for you.  Playing Jedi and seeing a ton run around just isnt for me, if thats what they plan to do, who knows?  I'll keep a watch out, but after the SOE whipping, I'm very cautious.

 

Old Republic timeline means there would have been a lot of Jedi.

Personally, I'm looking forward to having good playable Jedi, with a long training process and skills that develop with experience. Hopefully there will be many paths to follow and a lot of customization, so that they aren't all the same.

What I'm really hoping for here, is that they do a better job on the Space side of the game than SWG did. Pre-NGE, the fighter combat and pilot system in SWG was marginally fun, but they could have done a much better job of incorporating space travel into the game. What would be good, is something on the level of EvE Online, but with the ability to move around inside your ships, dock at and move around in stations, and to be able to operate in the atmosphere and land on planets. Being able to choose your landing spot would be a plus, instead of being tied to spaceports. Obviously, they aren't going to let you land in the middle of a city, but if there aren't any cities on a planet, there should be multiple landing options.

A huge part of the Star Wars feel is the ability to interact on a planet, in a city or wilderness area, but to be able to jump into your ship, and move that action seamlessly into space without having to go to a city and buy a ticket to catch the bus. Can you imagine Obi Wan knocking out the tractor beam, the crew fighting down to the hanger deck, and then Han Solo standing there saying, "hold on, our shuttle will be here in a minute"?

Jedi are fine, they're a huge part of the era, and that's a major reason why their doing this. Just don't make the space travel and space combat an afterthought like they did in SWG, and you'll get my vote. I played SWG for 2 years, before SOE screwed up the game and made it unplayable. Do this right, and I'll be there, lightsaber in hand.

I thought the statement in the requirements section of  "Strong familiarity and experience with gaming consoles, and Windows based PC's." was quite telling. Will we be fighting/gaming with our console brethren?

Heres something just like that on Bioware's store in austin (im in houston so its local to me just not old enough yet....)

Senior Combat Designer

Experience
• Bachelor degree in Mathematics, Statistics or Economics.

• 1-3 Years industry experience in game design and game systems design

• MMO play experience, including high end play (such as raiding, PvP or city sieging) is a must.

• MMO development experience is highly desired.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Collaborates with artists and programmers to develop AAA quality visual and visceral combat experience for a massively multiplayer RPG, including but not limited to visual flow of combat, NPC AI, and basic combat control.

I was actually disappointed that its KOTOR Online and not KOTOR3.  The sequel ended rather, ok let's not sugar-coat it, CRAPPY.  Been years and that storyline is still hanging. 

Probably means that SWG is about to get hit by the zapper.

Jedi are plentiful in the Old Republic, but hopefully they can keep a skill set similar to KOTOR2, where I can specialize into different kinds of Jedi (or Sith).  They should make non-Force classes too, someone will want to be a smuggler I'm sure.

Though EA doesn't have a great track record with MMO's so KOTOR fans will be happy and worried at the same time.

Be nice to see slicers, smugglers and bounty hunters ( who actually slice, smuggle and hunt ) as well as jedis and siths. If anyone can do SW justice it's Bioware but after 2007-2008 betas and launches   I'll wait til I get more info to get all excited, this time.

Probably but since I'm not one of them I'm happy they are possibly making KOTOR into an mmo and am glad that blizzard created world of warcraft.
