I think the only folks buying into FC's press releases at this point are the hardcore fanbois pa-trolling the forums, and those folks never actually seem to step foot in the game.  I think the great Protus himself proved beyond a doubt he doesnt actually play MMOs when he deleted all his toons in a huff over teh issue of Bind on Equip, shortly after he found out he had no clue what BoE entailed.

I try to think, but nothing happens

1. Make your customers wait 2 months to be able to even use the buddy keys.

2. Charge 3 bucks to download the client (btw, something I have never seen another company do before.) -->Insert obligatory "OMG it's only 3 bucks!", "Dude if 3 bucks is a lot to you then you shouldn't be playing games.", "QQ more" comments here. <---

3. Profit?

Seriously, this thread says it all. As long as Funcom has morons like these to keep on buying their crap, they will never learn.

About the charge: if a 18+ year old is whining about paying $2,99/€2,99 then they need to get a job or something.

Don't be a fool. No one is complaining about the cost, it's that FC are charging people for a "free" trial, unlike any MMO I'm aware of. It's not like AoC is getting good word of mouth either, this just adds fuel to the fire.

Stop generalizing differing opinions childishly and realize that charging people to play a trial is greedy, and not with general precedent. For a game on shaky legs, charging people to trial after they charged the original purchaser what? 90 bucks for the CE? C'mon.

Well i dont see it as greedy, theyre recouping download costs. Dont like it, dont pay it. Theyre giving people a low cost option to try the game, thats good. Yeah it would be better free but i wouldnt bust a bloodvein over it. Just because i dont see it as a big deal im looking at it childishly? ah well.

Some people will defend this game no matter what. It s a trial there shouldn t be a cost at all. Just shows anyone who s considering this crapfest of a game to not play it because this is the beginning of you getting scamed even more down the road.

Nearly as much of a scam for paying for a lifetime sub and not being able to cancel when things go bad and you want out.

Some people will bash this game no matter what, any negative angle that can be taken they will take it for the sake of it. obviously people are still subbing, and people are willing to pay $3 to try it out for a week.

Saves box cost by a lot.

Well I still feel majorly cheated with the CE box. I expected buddy keys. Not a couple of months after but at launch. They should have been upfront and honest about this (and much much other stuff).

There is no way I would want to use my buddy keys now and I don't play. And Avery it is pretty sick they ask people in a globalized world to use your cd's. Where did it say that when they accepted preorders; that the buddy keys could only be used with the CDs? And now they want to charge for a download?

This company is run by douchebags. Oh and liars.

And you know it.

While I can understand what you're saying, it's not the amount of money that is the issue. It's the fact that they are actually charging people to download from them. Maybe if they didn't have to make the download 12 or 13 GB they wouldn't have had to charge for it.

Or maybe it's different in Norway. Maybe they pay a LOT of money to host servers there. I dunno. But it's pretty lame to actually charge people to try out your game, you have to admit.

Lol how low can you go, pay for a trial haha, I honestly dont know whats the sadest thing Funcom charging to trial their piece of crap or Avery trying to damage control with "its your biggest MMO in your hard drive, it costs money", we really had a laugh here at the office when you posted the Cab - Bus analogy, thats some hardcore dedication man, in all honesty you could do some good PR work for a games company i think you have the talent, and i actually mean it.

Avery if you do not work for Funcom, they seriously owe you some money.

Legen.... wait for it.... dary!

As far as I know Funcom is the first company to charge a download fee for a free trial. I remember SOE charged for SWG beta disks but I think they even learned their lesson and that was the last time they tried that crap

Looks like Funcom is really getting desperate now that box sales have dropped off and subscriptions are going down the toilet.  I guess they have to nickel and dime now to try and keep afloat. I wonder if  in a couple of months they will be instigating in game item sales, or maybe the players will be seeing coca cola ads on the walls of the cantinas.

"A world which has to create its own justice is a world without hope."

First Early Access fee?  Now a buddy key fee?  Funcom really takes "nickel & diming" to a whole new level.  I'd rather just burn my buddy keys and chant some voodoo curse to bring Funcom down.
