For those of you who have beta tested many games, how do you get in? I know the obvious answer is register and wait! There has to be something 'specific' or tips to get a higher chance of getting in.

Ive registered for basicaly every beta on every mmo in the past 9 years and havn't gotten into any =/ Sometimes I even register multiple times and my brother registers too and nothing =/

Anyone got any tips on getting in? Maybe lie about certain things?

What type of computer are you running?  How highend/low end is it.  Is it a custom rig or a Dell off the shelf.

Custom rigs from what I've seen have more success because developers are looking for as much diversity as possible.

Also do you have a background in programming/product testing, or experience with a software company in your irl job?

And sometimes for some beta's its just plain luck.  Warhammer I believe is totally random.

Ohh are you one of the first to sign up for beta or do you wait until they get posted about here (cause if you wait and aren't relentlessy visiting those websites you'll always be at the bottom of a list)

For the Horde!

Using a female alias has got me into every single beta I've applied for.  Perhaps this is just a coincidence, though.  Make up your own mind.  No betas have been really worth the trouble though to be quite frank.  Not that pretending that I'm Tracy from some posh town is much trouble.

Oh, and I upgrade my PC often.

Beta for some of the easy to get in ones, like the Perfect World game on the MMORPG.com homepage. Use those as examples of games you have BETA'd. Also, have a unique rig to play games on, and it doesn't have to be state of the art, it can be a mid or even low level rig, it gives the developers variations to play with

Well one thing I've had success with is sometimes putting bad/old  computer specs by messing with my DirectX log.

They devs need to know how low they can  go just as much as how high they can go. Also under the 'Why Pick Me' questionare, tell about a genuine or funny experience in a previous MMO, follow that up with how stale everything is today, and finish it all off with how the game your applying to will fix all of that. (Calling their game a wow-killer can't hurt.)

for the most part the only things they look at are your specs.  that and chance are how you get into betas... well, most... not all.

The more laws, the less justice

Mostly to get in a beta you have to spend some money somehow, if you have tons of money invest in them, if little donate, if they have special limited crap buy it, one time I bought a special toy collectors thingy and I got a special code for a ingame item at launch and a game head start and beta (forgot the game, was in mid 2000)

I have gotten into most of the major betas there are since 2001 or so..I have a middle of the road pc setup (still running dx9 and windows xp). I make sure to sign up as soon as I find out about a game i am interested in, I check all the sites that are giving away free betas like fileplanet, mmorpg of course, and just hope for the best. So far have not missed out on a closed beta now since 2001 (guess I am lucky then :P)
