Lionhead Studios' Peter Molyneux confirmed that he's been thinking about what an MMO from Lionhead Studios could look like in a recent Eurogamer article about Fable 2.

Eurogamer: There seems to be a lot of MMO mechanics in Fable 2. Are MMOs something you've been thinking about recently?

Peter Molyneux: [Gestures to PR] Well, there's someone in this room to make sure that I don't say too much about that question. I have been looking at MMOs. I love the interaction, and I'm fascinated by the idea of really feeling secure and cool enough to actually do it.

Eurogamer: Have you thought about making an MMO, and about what a Lionhead MMO would look like?

Peter Molyneux: Yes.

Eurogamer: And you can't answer the question...?

Peter Molyneux: No.

If lionhead started working on an MMO with him as the lead, I would so want to be in on that build!

I would so want to be on the testing team!

I'd love to see Molyneux make an MMO. I mean, let's look at the original Fable..

* Hyped up a ton of features that no one had done before.

* Shortly before the game was released, announced that a huge majority of the features were pulled due to lack of time and money.

* Released a game that's not quite a game because real content was cut in favor of being released, plus one with bugs and cheats.

* Released an expansion (Fable 1.5) shortly afterwards, claiming "yay, here are all of the nifty things that you should've gotten when you first paid $50, but to get that, you'll have to pay an ADDITIONAL $50." Also, none of the unique features are included... the ending to the expansion just "wraps up" the lack of an ending from the original. And maybe adds a few new weapons.

Yup, with his history, he'll fit right in...

Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic

Hes a great designer and its not his fault that the original fable didnt come out with everything it should have.  They didnt get funded enough and didnt have enough time either, thats not his fault.  But its going to be complete different for Fable 2, that game looks awsome and this time they had tons of time and money to do it.  So I hope he does get to make an mmo.

Actually you are right, Fable did not release with as much as Lionhead claimed it would have, and yet it was still a fantastic game.

But, while you have a point, I think I would like to see Fable 2 before I considered Molyneux a fable himself.

Could he become another Brad McQuaid and promise a lot things and deliver nothing?  This could be interesting.

No matter what Peter Molyneux is a person with revolutionary ideas, but getting them to come true is a serious challenge.

At this point I would put my money behind a Peter Molyneux MMO....well, if I had money to do it with..!

The great thing about him creating a mmorpg is that his games always get released half done and none of his promises are in the game so if he created a mmorpg he could continue to develop on the game and finally deliver his vision.

Tbh I'm gonna take this as he's working on a mmorpg because the PR guyw as sooo strict.

didn't they make Black and White and the Stronghold series?  or am i getting confused with another company with a lion for their logo?

one thing i know is that there would be a ton of pressure on the team to do some radical different and innovative stuff. even if it would come out not as fantastic as it was set out to be the industry would profit from the impulses it sets.
you might think of him as overhyped but Molyneux is someone that can get money to an idea and bring something fresh and new to the genre.

that would be a welcome break from the "lets cash on in on the wow crowd" mentality

on the other hand given the complexity of a mmo if they started in 2008 i wouldnt expect a finished product bevore 2012 or later
