It seems that the worst kept secret in the gaming industry has almost been verified, even if Bioware have not held a press conference to announce it. (Has it been verified yet?)

If so, then what will become of SOE's SWG?  Will it still be run, as one of those poxy MMO's that they try to justify the inflated price of a Station Pass (or whatever it is they call it now), with such crummy titles as Matrix Online, etc.  Or will they finally call a halt to the ailing game.  I think it will probably be the former.

I'm not sure of the lore of KOTOR, and it has been such a long time since I played the original game.  I don't think it was set in the same timeline as the movies, was it?  Which rules out a lot of classic oppertunities.  (Which SWG in its current state has not utilised properly).

However, if Bioware are behind it, then it will surely be a hit, and almost surely a sensational game.  These guys do not follow the trend, so I would not expect it to just be 'WoW with light-sabres' as some people are proclaiming.  I am sure they will bring something new to the table.

But is finally the end for SWG?  Or merely relegated to the unmentional, crappy titles that SOE try to justify an inflated subscription price?

I would guess it would disappear into obscurity.

Much like MxO has.

Will have those loyal few who will play it, but won't vanish completely.

Gee, I had already forgotten all about Matrix Online. Does anyone still play that?

The new KOTOR MMO will come with a Lucasarts brand pill.

Take it before going to sleep and it will erase all memories you have of the failed project known as SWG.

As a side effect, it will also cause you to forget that there was ever a film called "Howard the Duck" and you will suddenly like the fact that Anakin Skywalker was a whiny bitch.

If you mean ones that have KOTOR in the title and that this discussion may have occurred during them, then I am sorry that I did not wade through 6 pages of a topic header I was not interested in, just to find that this had been raised somewhere in that thread.

If there had been a thread with the same title before, then I must have missed the thousands of them of which you are refering.

If there has been one, several pages back, then I am sorry that I did not notice it.  In future, if I want to raise a topic, I shall send you a memo first, telling you what it is about, etc, and ask for your permission to post.  Would that be more agreeable to you?

Or perhaps you can learn the concept of a forum.  Try looking the word up in the dictionary.  A place for people to discuss issues.

IF this Kotor MMO reaches the pre-CU wishes from the major ex-SWG players... SWG will slowly fade away and Kotor MMO will be the new AAA MMO in the market...

This is my guess.

SWG is already dead, 10,000 or less active players.  There is no reason LucasFilm allows this game to keep going with a new Star Wars MMO on the market.

My guess is SWG is closed before the new MMO even launches.

The only hope for SWG is that Pre-CU dream back... lol
