You don't say what 'third party software' you were using that got you banned, was it an add-on or an actual program that ran outside of WoW?

I have used Auctioneer, gatherer and Titan for a long time without any issues and even questhelper lately to help level a couple of new chars quicker and again no problems.

Blizzard are generally ok as long as the software is a compliant add-on that does not automate functionality to give you an advantage over others in the game.

.....and just to clarify, all of the above add-ons were downloaded from Curse.

It must be Thursday, i never could get the hang of Thursdays.

If it's a program you run while gaming, then it's most likely illegal.

But anything wich you only place to /addons -directory, and won'tt run seperately from the game, should be allowed. And as far as I know, Curse doesn't really spread any botting programs or anything. I'd suggest searching for reason for you ban elsewhere.

...but what add-ons and what reason did Blizzard give for the ban?

I can't say that i have heard of any illegal add-ons from Curse, but i only use a limited amount myself.

Only add-on that ever got anyone banned was not really an add-on. It was an image file editor that caused you to drop through AQ40 and skip bosses and just do Cthun.

Its all fun and games until the flying monkeys attack.

There was an issue recently where a bunch of users got banned and they did not know why.  Blizzard aparantly said it was just a mistake on part.  Send a mail to blizzard asking what mod you got banned for.
