Tonight was the first time I've ever partied with a Japanese player (it was actually two), most likely because it's the latest I've ever been on.  Now I have a question, I came across this site (Campsitarus) a couple days ago and it set some standards for forming and joining parties for English and Japanese parties.   Are they Japanese ones true?   I've personally observed the English ones, but never the Japanese ones.

Also, is there anything else to be aware of while forming/joining parties with Japanese players?

Finally, what does "Chesuto aaaaaaaa" mean?  I tried finding any meaning in it and all I came up with is that it's an Orange Range song.  It is probably fairly common though because the player shouted it twice in my group.

Playing: Mabinogi, Final Fantasy XI (3rd tour), Guild Wars

There is a possibility "Chesuto" might mean chest... as for in what context(what you wear on chest, or a chest with stuff inside), I have no idea....

If I recall correctly it was in Hiragana... that may help.

searching online with chesuto and hiragana results in the word means chest/breast... so now the context is there, when did the guy in your group yell it out?  (or maybe he's just bored and yelling something out.. who knows..)

Most likely your party mate is a kendo fan; he might even practice kendo. Kendo is a martial sport in which the participants duel with bamboo swords (shinai, not the solid wood bokuto). Part of kendo is that you must yell out the target of your attack as you make it. "Chesuto!" is common cry, indicating that you are thrusting at your opponent's heart. Your teammate adopted that cry for his attack in FFXI.

I have found that the party dynamics for japanese parties listed there happen to be true a lot. There is a reason  why a lot of japanese players tend to just leave when the parties disband and that is the reason right there. It's not that they are being rude it's that it is what they expect from the party. I have been the only english speaking person in an all japanese party many times and it can be a bit difficult sometimes. They use different strategies for certain things and sometimes it works great but sometimes I think it isn't needed. Like early on in the game if you have a pld tank thfs sometime sata a job that is /nin near the end of the fight and when shadows where off the pld covers that person. Where in most english parties you have a first voker then the thf SATAs the tank. Little things like this is why i think a lot of japanese player have "JP onry" in there search comments while many english speaking players have "NA JP anyone" in theres. Mostly because most english speaking characters haven't partied with japanese characters and just want a party no matter what. A Japanese person will tend to wait for a party where they know what to expect even if it means they don't get a party.

You know what's sad?  2 years in this game and i Never really paid attention to the inherit differences between the styles of play like you just pointed out.  You're right though.  I find, however, that if you are pleasant and remember some pointers you will maybe see some more invites from Japanese players.  However, if given an option between two jobs of equal abilities, i'll take the english speaker over the japanese player because of the ease of communication.

1.) When i get a party invite always immediately thank them for the party. I always put "(Thank you) (Invite to join party) (Nice to meet you) (/bow)"

2.) When I get to camp I single out party leader and /bow to them. Thanking them again for invite.

3.) Over time you can sort of pick up in some conversations what is going on. Also, generally, japanese players are much more pleasant and will kindly ask you in auto-translate to do something other than what you're doing if they're unhappy.

WHY SO SERIOUS???

A few Japanese friends of mine told me the main reason for "JP pty only" is because the majority of parties, NA's are the first to leave, or don't stay for a long time.  I guess when they party, its kinda a big deal.  They want to party for a long time and get copious amounts of exp points.
