WAR (Warhammer Online)

Has anyone heard when WAR will open up OB access?

Assuming it is not delayed and it releases around Xmas one would guess open beta would start at the end of November or early December.  But no official word has been given.  The game just started beta 3 so its quite a long ways away.

The games release date is 9/23/08 according to EB game, Gamestop and Amazon.

Open up? well for starters, there will not be any sign ups, just in case you are unaware.

You need to be an existing Closed Beta participant or a Collectors Edition PreOrder customer in order to qualify for the Open Beta. It will not be publically accessable.

Open it up to CE PreOrder customers, sometime after August, more than likely closer to October.

Amazon has it shipping late Sept. as of right now.  This would lead one to presume that the beta would start late August.  As the above poster stated, a delay may be coming which would bring everything to fall back, but I think he's jumping the gun on that assumption as there hasn't been any facts to back such a claim.

If it is going to be pushed back again then look for notification early/mid August.  If you don't hear anything by then, then you can probably assume it will be set to release on time.

Im pretty sure they wouldnt have announced the cities and classes thing, if the release date wasnt going to be in the next 1-2 months.  Im sure if it were any longer they would probably have enough time to work the cities or possibly work a whole new class or classes and I dont think they want to compete with Wotlk by Christmas. Guild beta should be about 1 month like any phase meaning possibly open beta could be  around mid august.

I'd say (and hope) that OB will begin Mid-Late August - Early September.  That'll mean the game launch at the end of september/early October.  Like you said, I don't think Mythic wants to compete with WotLK, and that'll be out in November/December is my guess.

And i don't realy get all the "compete with WotLK" stuff... I quit months ago and unless war is a disaster and wotlk brings upon the second comming of jesus so he can play wow... i'm not going back to that game... Realy... even if they released on the same day... who would say "oh wait... i'll choose endless grinding and repetition over a completly new game" ?

While your right, WotLK is shaping up to be a pretty great expansion (And oh, how I hate to admit it.)  I think Mythic would rather just the game on the market a month or two in advance before WotLK rather than take them chances.

About OB, I remember them days =P  But it just don't work anymore, because now days people want in beta to play the game, get an advantage, not actually report bugs and help polish the game.  Look at Tabula Rasa, I think that game hurt severely because everybody was allowed in the beta (Which was like, 4 or 5 months long =P).  People join the beta and are like "Hey, I don't like this game." and then they don't buy it, and that means the company loses money =P

The way mythic is doing it, they're getting some money for giving people OB, from the CE.  A lot of people even pay for the full amount or a large majority of it upfront =P

The realease date is fall which if by the amaizng chance they actually release in fall goes to 12/20.  Game reatiler release dates almost always have nothing to do with reality and are only set to generate the most amount of sales possible.  IMHO the earliest we can expect to see Warhammer is December.
