"Star Wars game Knights of the Old Republic, and it will most certainly have a massively multiplayer online component to it." - direct quote from the interview found here http://www.portfolio.com/views/blogs/the-tech-observer/2008/07/17/ea-to-play-in-knights-of-the-old-republic
It's going to have component, not be a complete MMO. Lulz much? This is kind of disappointing, but what do you expect. It definitely won't be a sandbox.
Well...so much for that ray of hope. Also, I'm not trolling. If you can prove to me where it says that this is to be a true mmo and not just some new KOTOR with an online feature, then please do so because that would actually make me happy. |

"You should never underestimate the predictability of stupidity." |
How about quoting the actual things he said?
"We've got two of the most compelling MMOs in the industry in development," said Riccitiello. The first title, based on the Warhammer property, will launch soon. "And the one that people are dying for us to talk to them about -- in partnership with Lucas, coming out of BioWare, which is, I think, quite possibly the most anticipated game, full stop, for the industry at the point when we get closer to telling you about it."
Two of the most compelling MMO's. One Warhammer. And the other, BioWare's....so...no MMO? Errr, think again? |

Then why the hell say the first thing in the beginning? That makes it sound like it's just an RPG with online features, like Diablo 2.
I'm sticking to my original thought until more info is released. |

N. Evan Van Zelfden in Los Angeles warns, watch out World of Warcraft. In an interview at E3 this week, Electronic Arts chief executive John Riccitiello said that EA is working on the next version of Star Wars game Knights of the Old Republic, and it will most certainly have a massively multiplayer online component to it.
Not a quote from Electronic Arts` John Riccitiello but the author of the article. |

I dont know...why would the journalist say that then? That is confusing. I'm still doubtful of it actually being a true MMO.
Don't get me wrong, I really want it to be...but that damn line won't allow me to get my hopes up.
I guess we will have to wait a couple of months for more information to see. |

Its still at the "he said she said stage" . The statement makes it ambiguous and I have a hard time believing that people writing in these online journals about gaming don't know the difference between a game with a multiplayer element and a true MMORPG. They are two different beasts. The fact that I also read MMO and not MMORPG also makes me wonder because MMO's are not always MMORPG"s and that is thrown around a lot along with the RPG being totally seperated at times. When WoW was produced it was clearly labelled an MMORPG not an MMO and so is AOC which is the newest release that is now launched. It was clearly stated as an MMORPG not an MMO with RPG ... which is actualy pretty much repeated by the guy from EA. So at this point its looking like a game with multiplayer qualities that is similar to setups like sims online or spore etc where you warp from place to place and are in a litle instance with others who have warped there. Its not bad but it lacks the persistant online world feel and to be honest if I am gonna pay a monthly fee that is what I am looking for otherwise I will just play the other cool console games out there :) |

Nice try but Bioware and EA haven't spent this much time, money, and development resources in building a game that is a glorified online arena. I think they understand full well that it needs to be a true MMORPG to succeed. You can continue to bash the Bioware KotOR MMO all you want but it doesn't change the fact that SWG now has a timeline to its painful and necessary end. It's a good day. |

It's a blog the person writing it doesn't need to take the same precautions as a real journalist. That is why you don't use blogs as your only source of information. SW fans should wait for an official announcement before getting their panties wet. |

Regardless, I just hope the MMO isn't ALL Jedi & Bounty Hunter. |

Your name suits you. I'm already tired of the speculation here. You don't know jack shit about this game, and neither does anyone else. |
