I don't want an argument with the entire anti SOE crowd here, but when someone thinks they're responsible for the collapse of a game that hasn't collapsed, and the creation of a game that has yet to be created, I have to put them in their place (that would be the SWG vets refuge...after 2 years....the very name 'refuge' implies you need to be helped.

actually, from previous experience, a lot of anti SOE SWG vets that go around the forums talking bad about SOE DO in fact talk in '1337' or whatever you like to call it.

Seriously, is there really any need for personal insults? calling me a 'knob' ? really...? I hardly feel Vanguard has been dumbed down, but then again, im not used to amazing games such as SWG pre CU, I'm sure that was adults only and was so complicated that you needed an IQ of 200+ to even log in (actually an anti SOE swg vet said that 'swg was so user friendly we even had a grandma in our alliance/guild' , so I'm not sure where you get the idea of dumbing down...another made up truth perhaps?)

but anyway, that was a completely irrelevant post, it was basically saying 'Don't voice your opinion here, I don't like it!' ....

you should really adress the issue of how have you actually done a 'good job vets' , instead of blindly agreeding with the OP because he shares a common goal. Negative cohesion is never good.

Maybe I should reply to every post regarding anything but compliments about vanguard the same way as you replied to me, that would get me far.

read the first stickied post in here before you troll, the tilte is why we hate SOE. no one here is going to be converted to loving SOE or any game they develop. i really don't think the vets have won anything, or lost anything recently all i know is that there is a new star wars mmo, and that's good news for people that hate SOE and their business practices and really bad for those that play the NGE. so in a sense we won something, were able to play star wars as a mmo at some point in the future without the fascist SOE in control.

The name Star Wars alone has people paying subscription fees for years longer than they would in any other game to be honest.  It is almost a license to print money if done half decent.

 

 

 

 

That's where you and I disagree.  The first Star wars MMO didn't print money.  The Star Wars IP is not what it used to be.  I LOVE starwars.  I REALLY do.  But the bottom line is that the demographic that also loves star wars is getting older.  The 3 latest movies was an attempt to hook a new generation but it just didn't work.  In addition the MMO market is so saturated at this point that sticking a starwars label on a game does not insure sucess.

You would have a strong point if SWG during its launch the fastest selling MMO to date.  It was breaking records and SOE could not shut up about how well the game was doing.  It sold out everywhere.  Age of gamer or not, it is perhaps still the biggest selling IP out there.  SWG was on its way down that road, but it just didn't have what is needed to retain customers due to its buggy half assed release.

It did not break the market open, because the game was a train wreck.  Really the game was at least a year away from being out of beta and it still attracted hunderds of thousands of people during a time when there just wasn't many MMOers to go around. 

Other games that launched in similar state have all withered and died quick deaths.  Not so with SWG.

Know what I love the most? One of the big complaints of the 'new' SWG is too many Jedi running around and how its not realistic to the storyline and how Jedi should be hard to get.

The KOTOR universe? CHOKED with Jedi.

Jedi don't go against the Old Republic timeline, so the big reason people didn't like Jedi in SWG is gone.  Jedi fit the KotOR timeframe, they don't in GCW timeframe.

The whole 'Jedi should be hard" thing is from a small number of the folks who unlocked a Jedi in the pre-NGE system(s) and are upset that Jedi was made a starter class in the NGE.

The main complaint against the current version of SWG is that it is just a bad game.  It isn't fun to play because the core game systems are horrible.
