I was just wondering ho many ppl have actualy quit and how many are still playing AoC. We know it sold about a million copies but looks like the game was a major disappointment. So i was wondering how many ppl have already quit.

I am still playings and even i like the game in general it is true that it has many problems. It has potential, stunning graphics and sound, best out there by far So is the character customization, maybe the best ive seen. Combat system is ok, not as slow as most fantasy MMOs. Animations are very nice, i like them a lot, fatality is a must. The blood is nice too, the character motion, jogging, runing, on the horse, all very natural.

So the game has great aspects but in the other hand it has a lot of bugs. It lacks high end content badly and midle end as well. It is way too much instanced i really dislike instances. And it has instances for verything, very imersion breaking imo. The story is too linear since the begining, no options to grind with diferent characters. Might get very boring if wanna build few toons. And it gets even worse at higher lvls. Loot sux! No otions for clothing and they are ugly. Crafted items are poor and crafting is still bugged. It lacks player housing. Traveling is a pain like most MMOs, some ppl dont agree but i dont like to spend most of my time traveling to get to objectives. Groups are too small, only 6,  but thats only my opinion i like big groups.

My conclusion after less than 2 months playing is that the game is fun but it is also very incomplete. It can be good but it will depend on a lot of work and know how, lets see if Funcon can handle it. I love the graphics and sound and i like the combat so im gonna stick for a while waiting inprovements, fingerscrossed :p

Your obviously playing the game, you've played a total of 87 hours this week according to your xfire sig.

That is a ridiculous amount of atleast 12 hours per day, I think you should go outside.

Yeah my Xfire is almot a shame lol. But im on vacatin and its winter here so im not doing much but playing a lot.

I'd be going on a cruise if my vacation happened in the winter.

I canceled about a month ago, but I still have friends on different servers and in large guilds saying the game is still well populated.

500,000 players created an account in their billing system is what it said in parenthesis.  Earlier they announced 700k players created accounts but my guess is that included beta test accounts since beta testers all had to create an account.

My guess is they are down to 300K-350K players or so, which is still a very healthy number as long as it doesn't keep dropping like it has been.

You are right, 350K is what the norweigan newspaper (no, Im not norw but I can read it) said. And to be fair, that's not so bad, twice the number of LOTRO. My guild picked up 12 noobs this week, all new to the game and we only did 1 round to the noob area to promote so there is still quite many new players.

There was more for the first 2 weeks but after that it seems stable to me, some quits, other starts.

That is very, very telling. In fact, it says it all.

What?

It's winter in California? Strange, it's summer in Europe, and it's also on the northern hemisphere :)

(besides, what I've heard so far, winter is not the snowy icy thing in CA, like it is here :)

No Way! this is by far one of the worst & most boring mmo game i have ever played..the developers had many intresting indeas, but it's nothing more than a button pushing meaningless hack and slash game..

the community sucks, the pvp sucks, the graphics sucks in term of epic feeling, the gui is one of the worst ever made.

im norwegian and im not spesialy proud of a product like this..

nee, im going back to vanguard, atleast that game is playable now

Well it can be shocking, but you have to remember. How many people on the forums say they are quitting, combined with the fact that less then 10% of MMOG players ever visit their forums. On top of that if you check post histories you can find 'i quit' threads going back a month to people who are still subscribing.

The populations are dropping thats for sure, but it's not remotely as severe as you'd suspect.

Me personally. I've been playing now for 9 months, give or take a few days, and I'm still having lots of fun and will still be subbing in the forseable future. WAR may change that, but I have a feeling it won't.

So far we have a lot more ppl that have quit than ppl still playing, like 2/1. I have imagined since i heard a lot of ppl complaining and almost nobody happy with the game.

I have a theory about that. I theorize that a great many people who complain about the game are still playing, and that the number of folks who have actually canceled their account is more along the lines of 1/1000 players. Why do I think this is the case? Look at the official US forums. During the day at least they are full of flaming and whining and b*tching about this and that and the other thing. In fact there are more people doing this on the forums then ever.

However, each and everyone one of these people (who still make up less then 10% of the games population, same with every single other MMOG,) are still subscribing. You cant post on the forums without an active subscription. I think a great many of the forum goers are actually people who LIKE the game. But they simply believe if they spend their time trashing the game and dragging it through the mud, the devs will react faster and update and fix up the game that they enjoy. If you go in game the number of bitching is far less, and (at least on Wiccana,) the servers population certainly hasn't dropped by much.

Now of course on the english EU forum the posters realize the above system just isn't very effective, so they post much more calmly, but are still somewhat critical. Really it's like night and day between the english US and EU forums.

You'll hear the obligitory

'wait until you leave tortage.'

But really the game isn't remotely as bad as these and other forums would suggest. Or this games rating would suggest. It has some content holes and some pretty major bugs that still need fixed, but theres a great many trolls on these forums and others who want nothing but to see the game fail. And if all you do is read these forums you'd think it was the worst MMOG ever to release. Hence the large number of 'I don't play and I never will' in this threads poll.

A RL friend of mine just started playing a week or so ago and he's in his 40s on his main already and loving it. I've been playing (counting beta) for 9 months now, and I still have a blast.

1)  I do not know why I keep periodically checking this forum because I quit the game several days before my first free month ended.   That being said ...

2)  If you want a better idea of how many people are still playing vs. number who have quit, then it seems to me that you could seek out people who are quitting guilds that were around from the beginning, and ask them how  many haven't logged on in more than say ... 14 days.   When I left the game in late June,  there were already many people who hadn't logged on in more than 14 days.  (I wish I had thought of this then.  I might have actrually had some statistics)
