The king and the pawn go back to the same box at the end of the day. |
Hi folks, It has been a long journey to find an mmo that keeps my attention as of late. I felt the need to come here and thank this community and turbine for the wonderful job they have done creating this game. The girlfriend and I downloaded the 14 day trial, as I was scared to buy two copies as I beta'd this game last year and it was horrible. Now I installed the high definition version using DX10 on a 64 bit OS and all I can say is wholey fracking crap. This games graphics and gameplay is amazing. This game has come completely 180 from its launch and the features they added are enough to keep the girlfriend and I happy. So today im going to pickup two copies of the game, my EB Games actually still has a collector's edition on the shelf, im in a small community, thank the lord. Anyways we hit lvl 8 lastnight and loved every moment, im a great judge of videogames as that is what I do for a living. The best part is we are in no way LOTRO fans, of course we saw the movies, but we never read tolkien's books or learned his lore. This game is great, it is a shame, if more people tried it im sure they would be hooked. I doubted it from my first impressions a year ago but now have changed my mind. Keep on keeping on!
The only two things I find bad is the text used in speech dialogue and on npc and players names, itf you could make that smaller with shadows it would look 1000% better and the game would be complete. The jumping animation should be fixed and look more fluid. |

Good glad you have found a game that you like. I also have a trial account with a level 9 Captain and 4 Loremaster (made the loremaster to become a Woodworker so i only need myself for my armourcrafting captain). This game is pretty cool and i love the story (its lotr who doesn't?!). Probaly will buy this game i sadly don't have DX10 instead i can run it on ultra with no anti anaysing so i perfer High Detail with X4 anti. What i can say is the water looks fecking lovely and i saw a friends account when he was in the old forest and the leaves in the water look nearly real ok this game isn't crysis but that as an MMO would explode my computer probaly quite litrally. |

The wife and i was in beta as well. We didn t get all excited about it. Recently we ve gone through the "No MMO out there" phase. We thought ah what the hell, $9.99 to d/l it, and we love it. We re looking for something to keep us going till WAR is out(in beta and love it) Now we ve decided to play both lol. We even took advantage of the Lifetime sub so we can play both and only worry about 1 sub. It truly is a much better game and can t stress enough how much fun it can be if this is your type of game. |

Ok i'm tired of all the lotro fanbois posting about how good lotro looks with dx10. I play lotro and wont be able to get a decent comp until october, so please think about us poor gamers that must play lotro on medium graphics. Its really starting to be painful to see all these amazaing screenshots of lotro set on max. I dont feel like selling a kidney right now in order to buy a decent comp, so I need to wait till the end of my internship. Btw welcome to lotro hope you'll enjoy it as much as i do. |

I don't see where you think the game did a complete 180, I was in beta and I even played over the summer last year... the game is hardly different. If anything they should have adjusted their quests in the leveling grind as there isn't enough solo quests for the solo player. No offense, but I don't know how you can claim you are a great judge of games when you believe LOTRO has changed drastically, when it hasn't. This game is far from great: - No real pvp - grouping content out weights the solo content, which is bad when you are trying to level. You might very well find yourself grinding deeds because you ran out of solo quests and can't find people to do a quest. Granted this might be a bit easier with another person, but based on my experience... it won't be much better. - Crafting.... it's terrible. First, it's expensive. Second, you have to level up each rank twice. Third, it requires critting for rare stuff, which you can only get a max of 35% on.
The game is decent for a while, but overall I find it dull because it's very hard to do instances and group quests. People just don't group. I'm just hoping it can hold me til WAR, I stupidly bought the 3 months 'deal' hoping it would, but currently it looks unlikely that it will. |

^ Sir it seems like lotro is not for you. Firstlty how can you play 46 hours in a week if you dont like the game, your pov is totally biased, if you do something you dont like for a long time sure you'll think its horrible. I dont understand why ppl say that lotro is bad because it doesnt have real pvp, its NOT A PVP GAME. You dont whine because you pizza doesnt have ice cream in it do you? For the solo issue I dotn really see the problem, always thought that mmos were about playing with other people and single player games were meant to be played alone. And if you cant find grps to do quest change server and join a good kin. Concerning crafting I think it's a pretty decent system, the crit is meant so that some items are actually rare and the double level is meant so that you can craft decent armor pretty fast but it take longer to craft rare armor even for low levels. |

IMO the solo content outweighs the grouping content. With the addition of Evendim, Tal Bruinen, north/south high pass, and Forochel it's fairly easy to solo to lvl 50 if you want. To me that would be somewhat boring, but it can be done. |
