If you're in the closed beta, would you do me a favour and request that Mythic doubles their rate of auto-attacks? Judging from the movies there's alot of standing around doing nothing between each auto-attack. To be blunt: It looks dumb and dull. I see no reason why they can't increase the rate of swings with your weapon to make combat seem more like combat and less like an old man chopping down a tree. Don't worry about damage per second. Mythic are clever. They'll figure out a way to lower auto-attack damage accordingly so the DPS remains the same while combat would become a fluent stream of attacks instead of googling your opponent to death. |

Honestly, im not worried about it. Look at EQ2, WoW, AC2, and AOC auto attacks. They all seem slow. Its really the player abilities that make the fight. Hell, even ff11 has slooooow ass auto attacks but the game was designed around group chain combos. Just hold tight, WAR is coming and it will only get better (except for cutting content). |

I was actually considering using Age of Conan as an example of a game with a decent rate of normal attacks. If you queue up your normal attacks in that game you'll pretty much flow from one attack to another. There's no static pause inbetween. The rest of your examples are so-so. Some feel like they have a decent pace, some are slow, but the real question is: why should it matter how auto-attacks works in another game? I don't want to see the crowbar from Half Life in every shooter ;) Anyway, thanks for the comfort from confirming that special attacks liven up things. I still think it wouldn't hurt if you were constantly auto-attacking though. Considering that individual auto-attacks would do less damage because of their rate, it also wouldn't matter much if you lose out on some auto-attacks because you're executing special attacks. TL/DR: You can have the best of both worlds. Request it please. |

Dont confuse running through players and jumping around like an idiot for fast gameplay either. The "Slow" feeling I am seeing in WAR video's is usually someone useing what looks to be a 2-h weapon. Guess what, Auto attacks in WoW with a 2-h weapon are painfully slow to. I like the addition of collision detection so I dont have to deal with any melee class running through me or jumping through me. They can still run around me, but not directly through me. So yea, the auto attack looks slow with 2-h weapons (which I am not a fan of, but understand why its there) just like every other game out there that uses 2-h weapons. |

If your relying on auto attack in an MMO you deserve to die on the battlefield. Weapons have different attack rates ...the bigger the weapon the slower. Since your only seeing videos of playesr either scripted to do what they're doing or ones who are at a con & never played before...you really can't judge and ask for changes. |

What WoW are YOU playing? The one I play, I sit there hitting 1 2 3, etc, until the enemy is dead. WoWs combat looks slow in videos also. On top of that the abilities look boring, I've seen some pretty cool animations in WAR. In PvP I usually end in chasing my enemy, or charging them, still spamming the same keys until they, or I, am dead. I was spoiled by AoC's combat, and I'm currently playing Vanguard again (Which has sloooow combat) so I'm not really worried about the combat. |

I'm playing WAR atm and I VERY rarely let auto attack do the fighting for me at all, and I use a 2 handed axe. As soon as the attack animation is done, another attack goes off. Its fluid and there is very little time standing still not attacking. Don't look at those videos and think that the combat is slow, because the only way its going to be slow is if you just let auto-attack fight for you. |

The idea of the slow dead combat in this game is from those videos released a few weeks ago. I have seen some beta leaked videos recently released from the guild beta and let me tell you the combat looks great. Put your mind at ease, if there are issues the rate of of attack in a battle is not one. |
