There were also rumors flying around some time ago of a game tie-in with the new Clone Wars Animated Movie, but again we will just have to wait and see. p.s. I can't see Bioware making a game with this form of art style but again LA either gets their way or no way. |

I actually thin they are holding off because they are yet to decide on a name or logo they only registered those few potentail names less than 2 weeks ago
On July 3rd, 2008, LucasFilm filed for trademarks for the following:
The trademarks have been registered for “Entertainment services provided on-line by means of global and local area networks, namely, providing interactive computer game software, interactive video game software and interactive computer games and interactive video games, all on-line by means of global and local area networks” You can view a screenshot of the trademark for “Star Wars the Old Republic” here. It is important to note that these trademarks were registered in the same way as the trademark for “Star Wars Galaxies”. These are officially registered with the United States Patent and Trademark Office. It appears that at least one of these titles may be used to create a new online Star Wars game. “The Old Republic” title makes me think about that KOTOR MMO everyone’s been talking about. |

While I love most Bioware games ( although I appear to be the only one who thought Mass Effect was KotOR re-skinned and basically sucked ) they are not known for making big open world games. All their games from NWN up tp ME have all been linear. So I'd give up on them making anything like what people remotely call a sandbox. And if there are playable Jedi, it will fail. Just my opinion, and I could be wrong. We'll have to wait and see. Although I am nowhere near a graphics whore, if they go with that cartoony bullshit like LA has for the Clone Wars, I won't even give it a second look. |

Originally posted by Zorvan The game will either have to have NO playable Jedi or only have Jedi. Even in the Star Wars universe there isn't much that can stand up against the best of the Jedi, only another Jedi can do that. So again to have good class balance you will either have NO Jedi classes or ALL Jedi classes. |

Yeah I definitely would not expect an open world game , Most likely the world will be zoned and instanced . I doubt they would make a KOTOR mmo and not allow you to play as Jedi . |

RIP Jeff Freeman - 9/24/08 |
It is all as I have foreseen. Its only a brief matter of time until SOE/LA announce its sunset date. Strong in the Force KOTORO will be but there maybe another (SW MMO , Could you all handle two especially if SOE has nothing to do with either of them?)

Actually I'd go as far as saying it would be idiocy to make a KOTOR mmo and not allow Jedi. Have folks not actually PLAYED KOTOR? If you have you'll see how illogical it is to think they'd refer to as a KOTOR mmo and not have Jedi. Also if you played the game, there are plenty of non-Jedi that can in fact give you a run for your money. Also that game and the prequels established (expanded universe) that Jedi are VERY killable when overwhelmed and that THERE ARE weapons out there that can stand up to a lightsaber. Remember not every Jedi is on the skill level of Anakin/Luke Skywalker or Yoda/Sidious. |
