I'm a vet mmo player, and I will admit I am picking this up just to pass the time before WAR is released :)

but, if I like it, i will keep playin it. I was just tired of endless Warcraft raiding and shotty pvp there.

So... brand new player. Never touched the game before... so i have a few questions...

1 - For a noob, would a caster be better then melee, or is there really no diffrence?

2 - Since there are so many classes to choose let me ask... is there any i shoudl flat out avoid when learning the game?

3 - (I admit, i haven't read fully yet but i figured i would ask) - can you level by pvp'ng? If so can you start early?

4 - if you can level by pvp, can healers level by just healing? (not teamed, but healing those in needs)

I intend to live forever -- So far so good!

1.  Well you need to know that casters can not cast while taking damage.  There is no casting bar that will get pushed back but rather your spell will just flat out stop.  So it's important to keep track of things like range, and aggro.  Make sure you have a root of some sort handy and you should be fine with mobs in general.  The less hp mobs and enemies have the slower they move so you can use that to your advantage.

2.  I don't think any class should be avoided.  It's usually melee or caster or some sort of hybrid.  All are good IMO.

3.  Yes you can level from PVP and yes you can start from level 1.  Just go to the npc's that port you to various places and ask them to send you to the battle grounds, it will automatically send you to the level appropriate one and you can start killing people of the enemy faction there provided that there are people to kill.  Some of the battle grounds are more popular then others.  If nothing else kill the mobs in there, the bg's in general give most exp of all the zones.  That's why you'll see people killing in there.

4.  As a healer you will have to be in a party that's killing others to gain exp in the beginning.  Once you get to the RVR part of the game at lvl 50 you get realm points by healing people.  They don't have to be part of your group.

in the wind, so to speak

just pick a class that looks fun, you will get the hang of it.

read about the classes though..its not like WoW where you just pick a line and own that way..some specs are purely group specs, and you probably want to avoid them until later in the game.

the hardest thing to learn is the game, where to go, what to do. trying to template, etc. but its hell of a lot of fun once you get into it.

pm me if you want, im just messing around for awhile until the new server i can show you around and give you the basics if you get lost.

I always recommend a thane to new players , alot of fun get the best of both worlds by casting storms and then smahing heads with huge weapons

Greatness is difficult to appreciate from close up. The great mountain on the horizon is only the ground when you are standing on it.
