Is this even going to be a MMO and not a RPG with combat? Do you play as the characters or make your own? |

I wish i had more info but for now this is all i could find. Not a lot of information about it at present. Since Marvel Universe Online has been canceled i hope this one sees the daylight. Could be interesting. |

New DC Universe Online details emerge As with a traditional MMO your character will level up as you progress, and you'll develop your powers. When the game starts you might be able to fly, but only later will you learn how to pull off specific moves and attacks in mid-air. Although you don't get to "be" any of the famous DC characters, you do get to interact with them. That might mean you end up saving Superman from being stabbed with a shard of kryptonite by Lex Luthor. Or, if you're a villain, you could cause carnage by chucking cars around downtown Metropolis, thereby encouraging the boy in blue to turn up and fight you. Metropolis is one of two large shared environments revealed so far, the other being Gotham City. Unlike World of Warcraft, DC Universe will be comprised of a mix of these environments and separate instances. And while there will still be instances and raids, the emphasis will be on fast-paced action rather than grinding. There will be PvP arenas

do we get to the actual dc characters? or we will be customizing our unique character and jus have the powers of the actual dc characters? i must say visually champions online look alot better than dc universe online. |

I'm not sure I can give SoE anymore of my money. I've been used and abused in just about all of their online titles. Even a masocist has to say, "when" at some point. |

Man that looked so bad
Animations are completely robotlike , looks like something done in 1997 Models are laughable and combat looks like City of Heroes beta (and this was 2002)
I think that quality of the game is somewhere near Pirates of Carribean MMO
We can all easily scratch it from the list.

You can't play as any of the dc heroes or villains. it will be a hybrid fps/mmo http://mmorpg.qj.net/SOE-spills-DC-Universe-details/pg/49/aid/121594 Here's some of the concept art too from the official myspace home page....
Also, did anyone else notice that at 1:19 of the the trailer, superman's heat vision sounded a LOT like a gravity controller's (CoX) lift power? ( ' : Otherwise, the models looked very nice but the environment will hopefully be more lively --- not concerned about it right now as it was a demo though. Re-subscribing to City of Heroes? i was never a big DC fan only character i like from them is Lobo to be honest and that trailer looked bad the animations did not look very good, if we know anything about SoE, they will launch this game when it is still in beta and then after a year or so it might be ready. |

Google "MMORPGMaker" if you want to make your own MMORPG. |

There are super heroes, and super villians, and all you get is a PvP arena?
Meh.
The genre screams PvP, but they aren't going to bother? |

It is something with this genre that I don't like. Since I tried CoH/CoV I have a bitter taste of the upcoming marvel/'hero'-games. But for those who likes'em, have a blast ! |

I fail to understand many of the complaints here. IMO, gameplay is always much more important than graphics. That is to say, I'd rather play a game with great gamplay and so-so graphics than one with dull gameplay just cause it's pretty. I'm stoked to try this game and hope it does well. |
