I am not putting any bright things on my damn character, because apparently right now big battles look like a jar of jelly beans on a roller coaster. |

I think the video looks great...they must of had several bright wizards with all the firey explosions going off. Its definitly missing the lighting & shadow work which means its from a previous client or just turned off (they only started using it see the herald!). I don't know what it is with guys that dye their armor bright cheery colors...(yes the bright pikmin colors are from the dye system!). I can only imagine this sort of warfare going on almost everyday over those keeps though lol. How anyone can say this looks worse than DAoC is beyond me you must be smoking crack or have no idea how they're running their beta which is typical of the posters here. Post a bunch of lame flames and act as if you 'were' interested despite the lake of post count or knowledge of the game or the WAR beta process. (they're not running a typical beta). Eh...im gonna go finish some work and go back to beta. |

I saw a dwarf with "pikmin" colors, but mostly they were Goblins. So, roll Order and kill the Goblins who dare to dress in greens and reds, damnit. It didn't look more cartoony or bright than any other MMO I've played to be honest. Medieval warfare wasn't about black, brown, and silver - armies had a whole pallette of colors, ranging from bright yellow (blech) to purple to green. Besides I honestly doubt more than 5% of us love running around in bright colors. As for shiny spell effects, yeah, I saw alot of green from those goblins. But the fireballs are awesome and makes you think "oh sh*t that gotta hurt." Looks like an older version, except the last 10 secs, which is probably closer to what the final product will be. Not an awesome vid but hey it's a new one haha. |

Don''t reply to me or quote me if you can''t do so without breaking Forum TOS cause I will report you! |
Well, I wouldn't exactly call this an awesome RvR video, but it is an ok advertisement of different spells and abilities. In fact, it almost looks like ranged classes have a long range indeed. More than what I remember in DAoC, which was actually pretty far already. I still like the thought of fighting for towers and fortresses in the first 3 tiers. Being able to claim one and defend it just like old school DAoC. By the way, for those of you who have sieged in AoC, this doesn't have that retarded limitation of not being able to siege other cities simply because you already own one. In WAR, if you own a tower or keep, you can still siege the crap outta other enemy towers and keeps. WAR doesn't look perfect, but it has the core elements from DAoC that I loved, so I'm still very much satisfied with the game. |

Considering we don't have an official date of when this video was taken, I consider it awesome. Most likely not this phase. EDIT - And I was referring to the sheer massive size of the battles... the graphics have still been said to be under development, so I'm not too worried about that. Glad to see they are still keeping battles the same size they were in DAoC. |

Those who do not remember the past are condemned to repeat it. |
i wish i could see the video . i would tell you all if it was the old client , staged or what ever else . i refuse to put craptime on my computer and i don't have an insider account :(
anyway , if the UI looks like this it is an older client ... so old that i haven't even been in beta long enough to test on that client ! :P |

Didn't show the UI, but yeah those were massive battles, regardless of graphics at this point - that's good. EDIT: Anyone else notice that during the first few seconds it looked almost exactly like DAoC? No shadow, no lighting, and the cape looked copied and pasted. That was funny! And did someone get crushed by a giant ROCK? Fell from the sky, broke on impact, looked like a rock. Or maybe I have crappy eyesight hehe. That's definetely not the final graphics, not even close. |
