I remember allot of people vanishing around that time, only to return months later with the same name and different toons. Allot of them never came back at all. I remember SOE giving an official number, any ideas what it was?

I remember , it was a matter that I was planning on bring up when I bought my way in the SWG breakfast during Celebration 3. For the longest time SOE loves to shoot first and ask questions later or in my case refuse to answer them at all.

I remember that great purge too, much good it did to the game. I also remember a wild and crazy guild mate of mine finding a dupe and, having been burned by SOE when his house and all its treasures disappeared one day and didn't come back. fabricated 12 TRILLION credits. While I didn't report him, I did urge him to somehow destroy or get rid of this money wiithout upsetting the entire galactic economy of Bria. Needless to say, SOE never caught him or, it seems, evern knew what he had done.

I remember it well it lost me a close in game friend he was a very well respected weaponsmith on Eclipse and recieved a large amount of these credits in exchange for a custom order he got hit with the ban stick for it fought and cleared his name and then cancelled for SOE being moron's

It wasn't really that many, tbh.  Not by way of comparison to the CU or NGE purges.

I wouldn't know, I left before the CU, so wasn't around to witness it. However, I'm back now, like 3 years later and game seem fun enough for me. I don't play MMO's for economic status anyways, I play for PvP status. Not that PvP is anything close to spectacular in SWG, I just need something to play that doesn't have orcs, elves and spells in it until WAR comes out. I may even keep it active while playing WAR, since it does seem pretty fun once again.

Not that many, but I knew 3 people on Lowca all from the same guild that 100% duped and got perma banned, one of them actually thought it'd be funny to randomly tip 1 mil cr to anyone he saw, which resulted in those people getting banned (but they got lifted shortly). And yeah many crafters were affected when unknowingly doing business with these dupers.

I always thought the bans were an urban Legend, I haven't met anyone who has or had been banned

I did, and she lost her account and all items. After her appeal went through she was allowed back, but had to make a new AV. She had the exact same name, just reduced to noob status. She was told not to discuss it. I also remember seeing the floated post about it for a few months. It happened, we even discussed it on the SWG every now and then, but I don't recall what the number of banned people was.
