This is one option I love to see in MMO and I think it is one of a million reasons why WoW had become so successful in a MMO. It was because it was very different.  Before you could have picked many many races (dwarves, elves, high elves, wood elves, dark elves, trolls, orcs, humans, little ratongas (EQ1,2), frogloks (EQ1, 2), etc etc

However, not many MMOs offers the undead as a race, not until WoW (to my knowledge).  I absolutely loved this.  I hated the way WoW designed the armor around then (ripped up pants and sleeves even tho the armor was new) but I enjoyed it.  The race itself had a type of mystery and beauty to it and a sense of a gothic trajedy to find themselves in a world of not Good Vs Evil but in a world of Us versus Them (Burning Crusade).

With that said, I would love to see a MMO use the undead as a race again. Who knows, maybe CCP's next MMO will allow you to play an undead (since they merged with White Wolf).

But, yes, an undead player character race in an MMO would keep me in a game (provided it wasn't sh*tty with bugs)

I am first and foremost a Sci-Fi lover. But I would take WoW over EVE any day.

I'm still waiting for a game with playable dragons that doesn't suck.

Personally I would go for a fantasy mmo without undead at all. And without orcs, trolls, dwarves and elves. In short, I would like to see something more original. Playable undead was original, but since I dislike the unoriginal addition of undead, vampires and werewolves to games I am not pleased by them in any form.

I am always imagining seeing announcements like: "today we lacked inspiration, so we added some giant spiders. Enjoy."

Is there a game where you play as the giant spiders?

You know what, there should be a game that lets the players play as typical fantasy MMORPG monsters.  The story would go that a group of humans/elves/dwarfs/gnomes have arrived in their peaceful land and begun becoming warlike, mindlessly attacking any creature purely for the experience offered (well, that and the money and items, so it's treated something like a mugging epidemic).  The players would play as these monsters, ranging from mice (at the start) to the largest, most powerful mythical beasts you can imagine, and would change between them by transferring their souls from one body to another (as well as leveling up the bodies they're in).  Of course, you'd need to buy said body first...

You could quite easily have a raid on a city with a party made up of a dragon, a yeti, a griffin, and a self-aware suit of plate armor riding an undead horse (each of the last two played by a different player).

Playing: Nothing At The Moment
Played: CoX, WoW, lots of free-to-play crap
Looking Forward To: Champions Online, Blade and Soul, Star Trek Online, Football Superstars.

i would like to see a historical game, set in a specific time in the past. NO magic, or fantasy races.

Pain is fear leaving the body..

Undead humanoid races are interesting. WoW got away with them because they are humanoid in form. Playing ghosts wouldn't work very well.

There is still lots of ideas that could work with for playing a minion of undead.  Look at all the varieties of undead you have fought in your travels. Zombies, ghouls, wights, ghasts, revenants, vampires, liches, mummies, etc.

Prolly the best way to proceed with these monster types is to go the City of Heroes/Villians method of advancement. Customize your character as much as you like at creation then use Enhancements for powers and focus less of gear.

They need a modern (as in setting) MMO with Undead, Vampires and Lyncanthropes... Underworld + undead... it would be great faction warfare...

Current: WAR
Played: EVE, Lineage II, SWG (Pre CU), CoH, EQ2, WoW.
Waiting for: Stargate Worlds

Creators imaginations have no limits, is people (users) that lack imagination.
