This is so the game that i have been waiting for, the combat system looks fun and different. its sci-fi, and its of stargate.

Do you think that more people are going to be drawn to this game now do to WAR is cutting content out?

I so want to like it.  And there are some interesting aspects of gameplay being promised.  But the preview videos they have shown (perhaps misleading, I admit) seem to lack any compelling atmosphere, and feel like a console FPS.   Nothing wrong with that, for those who enjoy such things, but it didn't show me anything that would suck me in to a subscription/addiction. 

I'm still watching for news and previews, hoping to be dissauded from this point of view.

Keep in mind that that video was shot when friends and family beta phase just started, so it is going to look better and be more eye pleasing by release. plus it only showed a few bits of combat, what about all the other things MMOs do? I'm more intrested in the crafting and Social aspects of the game.

I can see your point, but really it's tough to judge it on what very little we've been shown so far. All we've really seen is G4's little segment on it, and they cut through everything very fast and seemed to be concentrating on the combat aspect.

Like I've mentioned before, to get a better sense of what the game is looking to be about, at this point visiting the main SGW forums and looking through the wiki site is your best bet.  If one reads through even just the dev tracker, you quickly get the message that this is going to be a story driven MMO with a lot of depth to it.

I know I probably keep coming off as a fanboi, but believe me, it's not easy to get me this excited about a game. I've been through a lot of disappointments, and so I'm very wary of what I decide to invest my time in. These people making this game really seem to be headed in the right direction for the most part. I still have concerns about certain aspects, like the decisions being made in regards to the interactions between the two different sides, and being able to flip flop back and forth between the sides depending on who you think is winning, but overall I think it'll be ok. It just could be way way better if they'd make some changes.

Anyway, ComicCon is getting close, and they've said there's going to be a flood of new info and stuff coming out of there. I think a lot more people are soon going to be taking great interest in this game. 

I so agree that it is insanely hard to get excited about any games now. But stargate worlds has so much potential and just the tiny bits they have shown us is awesome. i cant wait to get my hands on this game.

The series were great  and with the amount of potential this game has im sure its gonna be great. Lets just hope they do beta soon.

they have confirmed that people have been invited to the beta. but no one is allowed to say that they have. NDA and all that jazz. i jsut hope my name gets grabbed outta the hat for the beta testing.

I refuse to get that kind of mentality for this game. Call me a fanboy if you want. but i dont care. There is way to much potental to be had with the series' behind it. Plus the devs have taken a lot of what the players in the community wanted and added them or going to add them. just stop by the stargate worlds forums and see for yourself.

I also really really want to like this game but am unsure. I must admit that I get a vibe similar to Pirates of the Burning Sea. Both games are great ideas with storylines that fit the MMO mold very well and both games have developers that seem to really care about the game and want to do a good job on it. Unfortunately Pirates was, at least for me, lacking in some intangible way that I couldn't put my finger on. The video of this game gives me the same feeling. I hope I am wrong and hope that this game is awesome as I love the movie/series and haev been looking for an MMORPG to play since Asherons Call 1 but we shall see....

...in the meantime I also follow Aion which is grabbing more of my interest every day despite having a storyline/setting that I have absolutely no interest in. I suspect this has to do with Lineage 2 being the only other MMO I really enjoyed on a longer term basis (though even then it was on a 7x private server so I'm uncertain about Aion also).

Yeah Aion is shaping up to look pretty good. But til i get my hands on Stargate Worlds i'm gonna be playing Atlantica of Florensia.

I hope this game is awesome, i mean lately i have been so disappointed, i hope this game does well, i love sg1, Atlantis and the movie, i like mmos, so yeh, good progression, and yeh i was sorta disappointed with the g4 clip textures werent that great but i hope it developes well and until we have something "finished" (well for an mmo at least) I cant really say more except looking forward to it.

Name them, or do you actually mean ALL of them?

When I first found out about the game I was super excited, then I looked at a video or two, read the headlines here and got disappointed. My mistake.

I did what all the good little boys and girls should do and went and read the Wiki to find out more about it. It looks awesome from what I've seen so far there, and different from the other typical fantasy MMO's out there.

Also, the community over there is wonderful, they already have 'guilds' called commands and within a few hours of posting my interest I was given many offers for different commands to join.

I'm really looking forward to this game now and can't wait to see the exciting new things they'll have to offer. Dig around a bit before making snap judgements!

I suspect that this game is going to have a moderate level of success, decent sized fanbase of fairly loyal (and mature) players. Much like LOTRO. I also think way too many SWG refugees are looking at this game as something they might enjoy; while it does have "Star" in the title and the same letters in its acronym, it's going to be nothing like old SWG. It will be closer to the NGE.

Well, its got the multiple planets and I think thats why a lot of SWG people might be looking, and I say let them look. I think this game will be enjoyable for people from all groups.

As for the fanbase it already seems to have that. It's got active friendly forums bursting with people eager for the game to come out. (Myself being one of them - obviously)

I think it will do well.

Woah I didn't know MMOs were good

I'm very excited about this game. I love SG and things look good so far. I'll decide once I gave it a try.
