all of the above is spot on...its just everything else was broken on release

Stand up for what you believe; Even if you stand alone.

I'd say VANGUARD by far sadly, BUT it's promises were much more lofty too.  Age of Conan had a fairly smooth launch for me but Vanguard was nearly unplayable apparently.

The difference between AoC and Vanguard is that Vanguard started horribly and have been getting much better day by day. AoC started decent but is getting worse day by day.

Did you miss the part where I said that Vanguard was in a bad state due to the mismanagement and all the crap going on at their offices? The fact remains though that SOE hurried the product out the door about 6 months too soon, as was stated many times by various employees. It's a joint blame.

Not  only that, but after SOE bought Vanguard, all they did was fire half the staff and let it sit. Sigil fixed the game and its running beautifully now, but SOE didn't have anything to do with that other than some meager funding. In fact, out of all the games in SOE's repetoir, I think Vanguard WAS on the bottom of their list of things to take care of. They expected it to die.

Um, no and no. SOE was the publisher at launch if I am not mistaken. It was after the launch the SOE purchased it. Sigil rushed the game out the door and I can find you the post from Sigil saying "Sorry we got to launch because we ran out of resources".

SOE bought the game in May 2007; the game launched in January 2007.

Sigil has had nothing to do with the game and has not existed since this time (May 2007). So how can they fix it?

I know many of you hate SOE and thats fine; but the Vanguard issue is not SOE's and that is clearly evident. The game has only gotten progressively better since SOE took it over and that is evident as well.

Vanguard hands down.

Other notables: AO, DnL, AoC, etc.   (no particular order)

Something must have happened to the gene pool lately...

Impossible to compare.

Sigil released with a clear warning. "We are nowhere near finished" and i was one of those who didnt crash back at release. Personally i had a smooth VG launch, only grouping was impossible for me with my old rig. The biggest downer back then was that Kojan ended at level 18ish and the oldfashioned grind gameplay. The HL quests at skalwra rock really annoyed me. I took my first break after 8 weeks. Not due to the game, but due to the community. I never canceled VG tho.

Technically my AoC launch was smooth too. But the gameplay was to simple. I was a follower of secret world. I participated in the early riddle on the net. That was basically the best stuff i ve ever seen. Stuff that stimulates the brain. This riddle brought me to Funcoms other game AoC. Because of that i had high hopes into AoC mature rating. But the game is not mature (enough) and the gameplay is extremely restrictive and boring.

We need new game tags. mmorpg isnt sufficient anymore. We need to divert into CMMO and NMMO. CMMO is clasic gameplay with a 1-2 year long term motivation and NMMO is what AoC, TR and a few others try to sell. I understand the industry wants us to buy NMMO and i hope they burn in hell for it. However, HAHAHA, Blizzard's D3 is going to show those ***** what a cool NMMO is :P Again :P

In the category CMMO VG wins, in the category NMMO AoC wins.

i vote "pong" terrible release only half the content was in at launch

left paddle was OP, crafting wasnt in, and ganking was widespread

but seriously AoC is no way near as bad as vanguard at launch sum people have a short memory

That was because of the sheer numbers trying to play.  Their servers were overloaded and just couldn't stay up.  The game in itself was very playable with minimal bugs.
