Due to corporate dealings and such, the people who created the game and were initially inspired to produce it, no longer run it. It really feels like all momentum has ceased and there are no plans for large scale improvements to anything in this game. It is in many ways, just the way it was at launch, almost like a timecapsule. Which is unfortunate because the mechanics still suck, and the game is a huge failure. |

MMOs require more reasoning and imagination than most stereotypically ''adult'' activities. |
Nonsense! What are you talking about? As we speak the devs are hard at work on Helmet Lanterns. Which should go live in...er, at most 6 months. And sorry, I just couldn't resist. |

Kinda unfair, but still, yeah this game is showing slow progress.People tend to forget but most popular mmo's out there took some time to get in gear. Even some very popular mmo's saw their first dev team completely replaced within the first 6 months of release.Did not stop them, I guess if you have a good fan base, popular theme, money will come in eventually and your game will grow. Not every mmo publishers have other projects and pile of money on the side to push development. It a scary world out there, competition is fierce. One can argue TR was released too soon, but we all know the development process was borked at some point, had they got the game right (not restart twice) the project maybe all those effort would have been put into PAU and end game instances... But here it is, so yep the game might reach its goal, but more slowly...I dunno how many players they need to break even, I think nobody outside NCSoft does, but judging from other mmo's numbers in the industry word is 10-30k depending on server required, bandwith staff, etc... But I guess the biggest hurdle was that lots of people were expecting this game to be a WoW with guns and 3rd shooter control, when it's a different beast. No flower picking, no beast to skin, crafting is just an aftertought.Screen shaking, fast mobs constent action make long hours of playtime kinda tough, I can't see someone hunting more than 90mins at a time, game plays too fast compared to reg mmo's. |

I'd hate to see TR die. From my experience with it, it was fun and different to most other MMOs out there. It just had a nice feel and backstory to it. All it needs is some more content and regular updates and I think we'd see more people playing it.
The only reason I am not playing at the moment is because back when I tried it my PC was terrible at running it. Now I'm busy with other MMOs. |

Not trying to be mean or anything but you are by definition wrong. I guess if you don't listen to facts or logic, you could say GW is not an MMO. Anyway, just helping you out so next time you'll not make that mistake, by definition of mmo. |

ways to "fix" TR. full RvR scope. make the bane a playable race. work both sides of players against each other with "quests" that form a persistent war with server-wide, noticeable gains and losses depending on play. broaden the scope of human and bane career options. create a viable crafting system, differentiated by the equipment provided for sale by the AFS. allow characters to explore in search of technology "widgets" (call them whatever you want) that can help them craft new items with bonuses that give better performance (and better profitability on the open market). mimic the amount of technological research that would actually be happening in the TR scenario if it were real. (a sudden exposure to new planets, life forms, races, minerals etc would create a science and technology free-for-all. the devs could use player scientists, merchants, mechanics and tinkerers to simulate that free-for-all.) create some human missions outside of the AFS, allow for character advancement outside of the scope of the military. think of the movie "three kings". not every soldier in war time is a paragon of virtue for the cause. allow characters to walk down civilian paths in their "free time" , either for personal gain or just to accomplish certain goals that the military doesn't address. (missions to find information about lost loved ones. helping out a group of civilian colonists that have not been helped by AFS officially. smuggling missions, bounty hunting of fellow humans, grudge based missions, general trading and commercial missions, etc.) basically allow players to build their characters into something more complex and multi-dimensional than what TR offers currently. allow them to turn their characters into something that more reflects their time spent in the game. i think a lot more gamers would be willing to pay monthly to play a character they felt could become something more interesting than an uber bane killing engine of death. as it is, i think that TR just ends up feeling like other 3rd person shooters on the market that dont require a monthly fee. which is probably not a good place for the game to be competing from. |
