$oE , destroying MMO since 1999.

I'll give my reasons for completely not wanting to raid anymore in an MMO.

-It takes too much of my time.

-It sets a timetable on my playtime. (be on at XX.XX because that's when the raid starts)

-I can't do what I want in the game.

-People take the game much too serious.

-I don't like to use Vent.

-Too much drama.

-Playing becomes work, and I don't want that really.

Anyone else feel the same way?

All of those are quite valid reasons.

To me the biggest irony is how antisocial a raid environment feels despite all those people playing together.

Ask a question and you are stupid for 30 seconds, never ask and you are stupid for life.

Yup, all of those are exactly why I don't like raiding.

It is all vaporware until I see it go live!

You nailed it OP, can't think of anything to add.....

I grew up on DAOC and Lineage, and raiding wasn't a major part of their gameplay... wasn't till I played WOW that I first ran into it, and now that I have stared into the abyss, I've withdrawn saying "no more"

Greatest threat to society is letting casualties of puberty reproduce.

I agree with on all but the vent i don't mind using it sometimes but not daily. Raiding to me kills communities in games. It has been my experience raiders are rude to their fellow guild members who are not of their own mentality.

Vent is definitely one of the bigger reasons (but they all add up) of why I don't like raids.

I have speech problems in r/l...I hate talking to people, even to family on the phone. I would much rather talk to people in person, and even then I don't really like doing that. I don't want to be forced to use vent just to do some raid or any voice program.

But all those reasons waterlily listed are big reasons for why I don't like raiding.

I don't like raiding, but I do like progressing. I love fighting new bosses and the great feeling of accomplishment when you finally beat them. But when you are not progressing, you are just farming the same bosses over and over and over again. Incredibly boring.

If I had the choice between a game being raid based or not, I would chose not.

I don't mind raiding once in awhile just to see the instance and encounters once or for first kills.  But I'm no longer in to raiding endlessly because:

1)  Too much time.

2) Farming raid instances is about as exciting as farming for the most mundane material/item in a starting area = BORING!

3) Raids usually start when my wife and I are cooking dinner.  This take time away that I get to spend with her after work.

4) Loot not important to me anymore.  At one time it was.  yeah, I was dumb.

5) Too much drama in raid guilds.  I don't care how someone positions their friendly and drama free raid guild.  It's a lie.  It's always there in spades.

You kill the Joe, you make some moe

I never really enjoyed raids for some reason.

Besides I play mmo's for the journey, not to rush to the end.

Be my friend!

To the OP and everyone else who feel the same way he does.

IF YOU DON'T LIKE TO RAID, THEN WHY ARE YOU PLAYING MMORPG'S???? TAKE YOUR COMPLAINT'S AND GO PLAY SOMETHING ELSE.

RAIDING IS WHAT DEFINE'S MMO'S THE GOOD MMORPG'S WILL ALWAYS HAVE RAIDING AS IT'S A MAJOR PART OF THE GAME. MMO'S WITH ABSOLUTELY NO RAIDING WILL ALWAYS BE CONSIDERED AS A LESSER MMO. YOUR WELCOME TO PLAY THOSE GAMES.

Raiding should only be an optional part of game play in an MMO, not the main reason to play the game.

An MMO is about social play, not masochism.
