i love this game personally. i didnt watch the development stages of the game tho so i dont know what was "promised" to be in game when it launched.....  can some people state some of the things Funcom said would be in game that isn't.  All i keep reading is game sucks i left and funcom is stupid and things like that.  so please post what the company lied about

Honestly in "my opinion", whats wrong with the game are the folks with the keggers of haterade. The game has bugs yes yes yes, have heard it over and over, I honestly can't verify 1/2 the complaints, only because I haven't xperienced it, I have 2 lvl 80s, I have seen very very few of the many problems other people claim the game has, maybe I am just lucky, *Shrug. Are there latency problems? Yes, hopefully they will address those in a future patch, but the latency issue doesn't occur that often that you can't play at all.

Then you got my favorite people, I like to just classify them in a group we will call "Funcom Promised us blah blah blah". They will list 100s of things Funcom promised them, things ranging from "awesome pvp structure -to- BMW's -to- 4 nights and 3 days in Bermuda -to- 3 months of Japanese massages"

Anyways my "opinion" is this I think people should play whatever game they choose, whatever game makes them happy, as long as they try out "this" and "any other" game and form their own opinion without quickly jumping aboard the "Hate it because the guy above me says it sucks" train.

A lot of people bought AoC, even if the game was released perfect, all singing all dancing there would still be thousands of people who would not have liked it, a lot of these peeps are under the impression that it is the buggy incomplete game that makes them not like it.

At a guess out of the people who cancelled their accounts, 80% would have cancelled anyway and only about 20% would have stayed if the game was perfect.

And out of those 20% (those that cancelled because of bugs and content) i bet that 90% of them would have come directly from WoW without having expereienced any other MMO before.

WoW insult? I am eluding to the perfectness of WoW and which then makes these people think that all games can instantly attain the same level.
 

So it is infact high praise for WoW. Maybe you should take some lessons in basic comprehension.

I still get a bad shiver when I read the paragraph from the paid shill review of GameFocus :

"This game is massively superior to "World of Warcraft" and "Lord of the Rings Online" and other current high rated MMORPG’s in many ways and should be a game to pull players of all types to it if they are willing to give it a chance"

Those guys should be banned forever from any criticism. The most blatant paid advertising ever seen :(

But I agree...these along with the crashes, quest bugs, and other issues certainly make it valid for anyone to be upset or cancel.

I stopped playing after the free months and so did all of my friends that I played aoc with

I like and hate AoC at the same time. The only reasons i still play till this moment is I paid 80 bucks for it and Im kinda force feeding my self to play it in hopes for it to turn into something i can stomach. The game is fun at first but then it fizzles. It is missing that hang out factor to it. coh you have atlas park, swg you have the cantinas, MxO had those nice clubs to hang out in and have fun in. What the heck is my drinking cape for? its also missing the /duel command i would like to spar with friends to try different things out. well i dont know maybe just maybe it will get better I will keep my hopes up

Whi is DX10 so important? excuse me for not being a techie! but the game runs fine for me without it, so is there any reason i need it to run DX10?

Same here only 56 so not played any large scale pvp.

pvp rewards should be a priority. no point otherwise.

drunken brawling could be fun if they added it :).

other than that is anything "broken" as some claim? i havent experienced anything broken other than minor bugs. though i agree new content should be high on thier list too.

The thing is it was PROMISED! A lot of people went and upgraded their computers to support DX10 yet theres no point now.

Ahh i see, doesn't apply to me though as DX10 is an upgrade for other things for me too. I play other games and do other things with my pc so DX10 was a waste for me :) oh ye and i upgraded too but for some reason AoC still works with a little dx9 patch and DX10 still works on other games.

I promised my missus id be back for tea but ended up late....still with her! glad shes more forgiving than most of us :)

It wasn't fun for me.

Bugs and missing features I'm used to with MMOs.  Lord knows it happens alot with newly released MMOs.  The first 20 levels of AoC were ok and some of the quests were good.  But I wasn't really happy with the classes, and the game is too melee focused for my tastes.

So, if you're enjoying it then more power to you.  It just wasn't right for me.  In fact due to my disappointment with AoC, I've decided the following: 

     - Never preorder a MMO again

     - Never buy a CE edition

     - Never play a new MMO until the reviews are in

This had to be one of the games I looked forward to the most... only to be disappointed by the game itself.

I was more dissapointed with no leather map in CE (just a rubber map on piece of cloth).

I also hit the cancel button. I loved it the first 50 levels or so but it gets old and boring after that. Too many bugs and lag spikes for me to stomache. The crafting system is a total bust. This mmo will last for a year or 2, then prolly put funcom out of business because no one is paying to play this pos.

Seems you're not the only one to leave , If you are who I think anyway . If a bunch of old SWG customers can't stick it out there is definitely something wrong.

Tech-wise DX10 provides a number lightiing improvments and some other things as well but the lighting is one of the major things.  This is actually a fairly Big Deal as far as looks, especially in places like a forest.

Promise wise DX10 requires a Vista which is not only a different OS than people people have but Vista combined with AoC high demands means you probably need 4GB of ram and many people would probably seriously consider upgrading their computer.  So reneging on this promise very almost no warning had serious consequences for those people whom it affected.

DX10 is not necessary, but it does have it nice points.  For those people who are either habitual early adopters or really wanted to see the kind of graphics DX10 would pop they essentially got bent over and well you know the rest. 

Did everyone spend major money to upgrade their system? No.  But some people did and there were some decent reasons to want DX10.  And those people who did got Charlie Brown'ed by Funcom.

Personally I would not have upgraded my system for DX10 but I certainly see how some people would since they rate graphics higher than I do in importance.  They got screwed and really for no good reason except to maintain the hype that AoC was more revolutionary than it was.  AoC let them make expenisive purchases based upon their repeated promises to avoid bad press.

Certainly DX10 is a expensive investment that many people would not have done but DX10 does provide noticeable and unqiue lighting improvements which a subtle but powerful affect on ascetics.  So its not like some graphics upgrade where you say "Er there is no difference between 40 FPS and 60FPS you just want tot  turn it up to 11, Nigel".  And after all AoC is the steak of the MMORPG world.
