Been reading the MMORPG interview few times now.  There is one thing that sounds kinda strange.

If you leave some of the content out of the game that supposedly was MAKING the game so great - How can the game then stay great ?  Even if the content is "only" good it would still make the game at least balanced in terms of classes and races.

I mean - we are seeing 2 tank classes removed.  How is Mythic gonna solve that ?  No tanks needed ?  Can't see how this will not effect the game in major way.  At least everything called PVE content is down the drain by the looks of it.

And what exactly does that mean for the dev team ?  Changing content to fit to lack of tanks - change quests and rewards.  All this mean that current content of the game that has been tested needs to be tested again.

I just can't understand how cutting things out of a game will make it greater than what it was supposed to be in the first place.   Thats sound awfully like a PR talk to me.  And after AOC - all PR is big NONO.

There is only one thing that I can see from all of this.  They don't have time to make the game great anymore.  This cut does not mean that other part of the content is up to the standard acceptable.  In fact it makes it even less likely it is - cause if it was polished then devs could focus on the issues with these classes.  Obviously there are more issues - and even bigger that needs to be solved.  Thats not very promising is it ?

Im very sceptic now about how polished this game actually is.  Many of the podcasts that were nothing but talk are now turning into nothing but babble cause it was created around system that no longer is in the game.  And now all of a sudden - thats perfectly fine and easy to just create new system that has yet to be tested at all ?

I don't think so.  I think we are in for yet another MMO disaster.

why more tanks when we have the goblins! you cant beat that. The classes don't bother me much, but the 4 main cities they cut off. Hopefully there will be a lot of quests for lower and high level toons.

each faction will still have 2 tank and 2 dps classes...so my guess is that if your party needs a tank or dps you can still find a tank or dps character

And what exactly does that mean for the dev team ?  Changing content to fit to lack of tanks - change quests and rewards.  All this mean that current content of the game that has been tested needs to be tested again.

wtf are you talking about? quest rewards are class specific anyways. changing content to fit lack of tanks? did you bump your head? order and destruction will lose 1 tank and 1 dps leaving 2 of each per side. You do realize you don't need to be the same race to group right?

you really need to think before you post. The point of cutting out some of the content is because mythic didn't feel the content/classes was up to par. This would have only hurt the release of the game. They did the right thing by making the announcement so early allowing players that want to cancel their preorders to do so. I personally think this is good PR. it just tells me that mythic isn't only about the mighty dollar but also about making sure we get quality content instead of mediocre BS.

1 Each city will now be polished as much as possible.  “These things,” he said, “are getting our full attention. They are a tremendous effort by the team on all levels.”

2. Capital cities are more than just “a place for people to hang out, buy stuff  and run around making Chuck Norris jokes,” says Jacobs. He went on to talk about the detailed nature of these cities and how, no matter how good you or your team is, you’re not going to get it 100% correct on your first time around. Starting with two cities will allow the team to learn from their mistakes so that when the other four are incorporated, they will be better and the devs won’t have made the same mistakes six times over.

“Nobody gets it right the first time. Not WoW, not Camelot, not EverQuest. Everyone changes their game once it goes live. We have to expect the same thing will happen with cities.”

3  Players won’t be distracted or divided between cities and will be able to focus their collective efforts on a single target and a single defensible position. “By only starting with two, we can really focus the community, focus the player base, focus the guilds, the teams, that are all working to sack the city.”

what system are you talking about? they have crafting, rvr, town sieges, PQs, pve, siege, renown etc...

I don't think so.  I think we are in for yet another MMO disaster.

good, then do yourself a favor and go play wow or aoc. I'm sure WAR will still be successful without you.

Behold! Rash of the Itch King comes in November! Quake in fear!

Think about it like this. For cities, they took 3 little pipsqueaks and made them into a big mother f*cker for each side. For classes, well, as hard as I try I can't totally justify their decision - but I see why they made it and I won't go "hey they're cheating us OMGWTFBBQ". Alan0n went from trolling WAR, to AoC, and now back to WAR I suppose so I just ignored most of his post.

And Mythic never said the cities are never coming in, same with the classes. You can speculate and say "be realistic" all you want because you think they're never being added in, but DAoC expansions had classes added in. Why can't they do the same or more with a huge wallet and more people?

Suprising the topics as of the past two day are more sensical than many of the regular posters provide. For once the majority of people are actually trying to have a clear head debate.

But please, when spewing forth negative or positive comments at least know what your talking about. Every zone in the game is still implemented, the capital cities are cities although large. The zone that the capital city resides in is still there. These zones are pretty large themselves, all If I'm not mistaken with rvr elements. The removal of 4 capital cities isn't even close to 50% of the game.

As to the classes. Fans refer to the individual classes themselves, not the arch types. Even with the removal of the four classes we still have a dps in the form of mauraders and witch hunters. Tanks include the iron breaker.  All the archtypes in the game are still present. Specifically four of the classes aren't. And while mythic implemented some sort of mirror system where the dark sorceress and the bright wizard, and the shaman and the arch mage, use similiar mechanics. They will have different masteries and spells making them separate classes. 20 classes in all.
