Honestly....... I don't care what it is as long as it's a NEXT-GEN STAR WARS mmorpg. I love ALL things STAR WARS and I will give any STAR WARS mmo at least a full year.....no matter how bad it is. This very good news!

There are some bitter ass people in this thread.
I would LOVE to play a star wars MMO. Never got a chance to play the old ones.
I honest to god wish they would have kept making movies. Just take the shitty CGI shit with it. Anyway, I don't see why everyone is getting all pissy and attacking you with reminders about how it could just be speculation. Well, yes it could just be speculation. Lets have some positive thoughts here. Star wars is better than anything any of you have ever produced in your lifetime. At this point I'm kind of rambling because its almost 5 AM and me being a Star Wars nerd, I never want it to die. |

Go research the numbers of KOTOR sales alone, not to mention their other titles. I would love a open skill based system but I am assuming from reading Biowares article stating their opinions of classes this game will have classes. OMG! That MMO has a tree in it! They ripped WoW off! OMG that character has 2 eyes! What a WoW ripoff! Games have had classes in them since before home computers. Lets take a look at old D&D first addition pen and paper for a start. |

Stupid. Plain stupid. What I am talking about is that all these class and level based mmos are all the same. It is as if the developers just take the cookie cutter way of doing things. No real re-invention of the genre. No attempt to make something new.

From the quality I have seen come from Bioware I am comfortable believing they will push the bar for MMO's They have a strong team assembled. Don't fail it before you see it. I agree I would want a open skill based system. I love EVE for that and old SWG Pre CU (EMU IS IN OPEN BETA!!!!!) |

Actually, LA just had primary directives towards story concerns, as well as content as well. EVERYONE had their say with design choices. You can tell with some former SOE developers...that they felt the NGE was a GOOD thing, and it was "alot of fun". BS. Setting the timeline for The Old Republic well into ~3000 years in the past, gives bioware (if they are the team developing this) pretty much free reign to do exactly what they want with any aspect story-wise(as they once had with KOTOR) and design-wise. I'm sure LA has changed their tune drastically after the whole NGE fiasco...I mean, it's the whole reason WHY they were looking for new developers for a SW MMO. SOE should be the primary enemy to SWG veterans, bottom line. They developed this game, and due to the insane amount of bugs at launch (and still now), the game suffered numerous "combat upgrades" and whatnot. LA had a hand as well, probably releasing the game way too early....but come on, how much did SOE honestly fix after launch? Most of them probably just sat on their ass most of the time, just enjoying the nice money coming in...ignoring the bugs as well. I don't care what the next SW MMO entails...if it's made by Bioware, I'm definitely going to enjoy it, either way. They are one of my favorite developers. But to be honest, I'm really glad SOE is not handling it in anyway shape or form. I have not enjoyed a single game fully from their lineup, and I hope they really change their tune sometime in the near future, if they hope to stay in business. |

Speaking of BioWare's Dragon Age, it's been renamed to "Dragon Age: Origins" and has it's first teaser trailer [just out last night] : http://www.gametrailers.com/player/36033.html The new title would suggest it's some sort of backstory to a larger tale... which makes me wonder what if it were the single player stand alone introduction to BioWare's MMORPG? Wouldn't that be crazy? Dragon Age Online It was just a wacky thought hehe. The trailer for DA:Origins is honestly pretty unimpressive in my opinion but it's just a cinematic teaser so far. |

I'd still get it, because I <3 bioware that much But I'm really on the edge as to whether Bioware will be making an MMO off of this. Simply based on this article: http://www.mmorpg.com/showFeature.cfm/loadFeature/1154 It may not be much, but I really feel they might not be going with a Fantasy setting simply because it's what so many developers do nowadays. Compete with the "800 lb. gorrila". From what we've heard, it seems like this MMO will have quite a bit of "WoW" elements in it, but I'm suspecting that they might want to set it apart from WoW as well...there is a large "sci-fi" crowd out there, and I'm probably not the first one to say it, but there are ALOT of people really itching for a great sci-fi MMO. And I think Bioware knows this. |

I so hope Bioware would make a new Star Wars MMO ... not because I wanted to play it but to see these board burst in flames when you notice that it wont be a SWG sandbox-style game but probably a story-/quest driven linear, class based mmo with lots of instancing :P |

Damn you DeaconX! Because of you I was so excited I let my pizza burn! *shakes first* ;) Seriously, this is another good hint a SW MMO might be in the making. I hope for it. And never call Star Wars or the hope for a SW MMO dead! Just like the Jedi rose after the Purge, so will a SW MMO arise anew one day! You will see! *Yoda summons a new Star Wars MMO from the swamp*

Google "MMORPGMaker" if you want to make your own MMORPG. |

KOTOR is a great IP. If they made a solid MMO based on this IP, it would be fun, even if it wasn't a sandbox game. |

LucasArts reps have said they will still participate in E3 this year, but they will not be announcing any new games there.

Obee is correct - I'm pretty sure they're just going to give Force Unleashed some attention and that's about it. Too bad... I really wouldn't mind an announcement from them about the information in my original post in this thread hehe |

So Bioware comes out and says they're making an MMO. The put up wanted ads for game designers with FANTASY experience, then how long has it been? Two years or so? Later someone aquires access to a Star Wars IP and we're calling this proof to keep the rumor going that Bioware is making a Star Wars MMO? Please tell me someone else sees the idocy of this. |
