Original post: http://www.mmorpg.com/discussion2.cfm/thread/151383/page/23 http://www.eucantina.net/archives/834 On July 3rd, 2008, LucasFilm filed for trademarks for the following: Star Wars The Old Republic Star Wars Sagas Star Wars Legends The trademarks have been registered for “Entertainment services provided on-line by means of global and local area networks, namely, providing interactive computer game software, interactive video game software and interactive computer games and interactive video games, all on-line by means of global and local area networks” You can view a screenshot of the trademark for “Star Wars the Old Republic” here. It is important to note that these trademarks were registered in the same way as the trademark for “Star Wars Galaxies”. These are officially registered with the United States Patent and Trademark Office. It appears that at least one of these titles may be used to create a new online Star Wars game. “The Old Republic” title makes me think about that KOTOR MMO everyone’s been talking about. Credit for the screenshot and discovery of “The Old Republic” title goes to the website StarWarsUniverse.com Why do I write, create, fantasize, dream and daydream about other worlds? Because I hate what humanity does with this one. BOYCOTTING EA / ORIGIN going forward. Sorry TSW.

I'll freak out if this comes true, I feel it in my gut that it is. One of the biggest, if not biggest IP's, needs to have an MMO. It was destined for Starwars fans worldwide. Who knows if any of this info is really worth a damn, but here's another update from 'Jawars' on the BioWare forums: "AN UPDATE from the EUcantina post about the Trademarks: "In a forum on Ahazi.org, a user has posted that he took a survey on surveyspot.com about a Star Wars MMO called Star Wars: The Old Republic. He lists some of the features described in the survey here. Full grouping ala any damn MMO Some sort of minigame that is used to influence others?? Not many details on that one. well, there were 10 major points we had to vote on and classify in order of what we liked the best. These are the only ones I remember. So, could we have something here?? It sounds cool to me!! 1/2 of it was "would you pay 39.99 for game and 12.95 for sub?" and stuff. YOU HEARD IT HERE FIRST!!!WOOOOT!!! anyone else take the survey? You realize of course that this could be nothing more than a formality in case they ever decide to do something with any of these games. It's nice to speculate, but it's nothing more than speculation.

CoX already has that for an "end game". You hit the level cap and start over. Its one of the biggest complaints the players have about the game. Its funny to think that any serious game developer would actually consider such a thing......oh wait, StarGateWorlds is

You must be talking about Dragon Age which is a single player rpg being made by bioware.

Before you all go nuts, remember that its 99.9% likely any and all issues / problems / design choices made concerning SWG were directives from LucasArts (who are so in control of anything SW related its untrue) and therefore any new SW MMO, especially one they are clearly going to be even tighter in charge of, will in all likelyhood go the same way. Lucas killed the movies by making the phantom crap, he killed SWG by adding the changes, and he will kill any other MMO in the same "But I just want my 5 year old kid to be able to play it" mentality. Union As far as I know, there was never any romance between the aforementioned "companions". -- I don't think the person who wrote that meant any of those mentioned companion characters had romantic relationships but rather that in a game, your companion/sidekick COULD become a romantic interest. I don't know where you get 'fantasy theme with dragons' from either because as I said, they've released nothing. Perhaps you're talking about Dragon Age which is a single player RPG which BioWare Austin has been keeping well underwraps for years now and hope to release fairly soon so I wouldn't be surprised to hear about it at E3. Unless of course you know something about the MMORPG of theirs being developed in Austin, TX that I completely missed... Why do I write, create, fantasize, dream and daydream about other worlds? If you'd visit the game you'd know how true that is... on the 30days back i've talked to a few people and its all "well they're all coming back..." etc etc. the game is SO dead that SOE needs to resort to collections and badges in order to give you something to do. its ridiculous and sad. hell, while i was in there i was told that in order to run an instance with some people i had to be keyed to do it heroic... i had a flashback to TBC "And after blizzard takes over the world, they are gonna gather a bunch of lemmings, sit on their fat asses near a cliff, and watch the little fuzzy bastards suicide dive into the ground below. . . . . all just for their own entertainment."

There is still already players playing right now (i am playing it again). SWG is most stable now then never because back during retail, everyone was exploiting and it was too easy. (i had a rancor with 400000 dmg attack....), i even got Creature handler leveled from nothing to Master within 1 hour. The changes was quite good, and it is one of those MMORPG that allow change changes without re-doing everything. meanwhile, i love how Star war the movie and their line goes, They didn't KILL anything. Just because you don't like it, it doesn't mean other doesn't. Beside, the idea of "space" movie is actually a motivator to "human" kind in general. A lot people got moved by Star wars and other space genres leading them to newer invention and moving talking space. Its an inspiration. none

What I think is funny is the fact that even if they make another SW MMO, they arent going to be catering to the sandbox types again. LA already learned that lesson. Pre-CU FTW? Yeah whatever...it sucked when it launched, and I sure dont see them making the same mistake again. There is more to gaming than regrinding your template over and over. Asking Devs to make AAA sandbox titles is like trying to get fine dining on a McDonalds dollar menu budget.
