I just got the WoG expansion pack, do I have to do a mission or quest to unlock the content like with ToU?

No. I don't like just giving out info without people actually exploring to discover it...But I'll do it this time. Check out the Cavernous Maw in Batallia Downs to get started.

Ya something i don't like is that square tries sometimes to make things totally confusing rather than just exploration.I haven't played the game in like 2 months now because i really felt that WOG expansion was a pile of crap.Worst expansion in the lot.They make you run around for days unlocking all the maws ,so that you can enter them from the present.You can't enter from the present until you enter from the past first[cept battallia and i think 2 others to start..The dancer quest is just a time sink as they send you to the furthest points on the maps,hard to navigate also for a first timer that doesn't understand the new zones.You have to enter from there to get to there,then once your there you have to exit and re enter to get to the spot you need,really lame time sink.

The dancer is at least started in jueno,so you would be able to find it easy enough,it's there after that is the time sink.Scholar you would wander around prolly for weeks until you stumble onto it.Lucky you have the internet to find the info you need.Other than that there is a few meaningless quests,unless you get excited about re hashing the kitty from previous final fantasy.After that all people do is solo/duo in campaigns.

The rank system in campaigns is also weak as the rewards are cheap and really don't add much to uniqueness of a new expansion pack.In other words the rewards pretty much mimmick other already in game items,they just give them a different name.The rewards from the WOTG expansion at least had some uniqueness to them and everyone pretty much levelled there all the time.After you get bored in a few weeks from doing campaigns,the expansion is really a waste of time.

I agree that a lot of WOG content so far seems like a waste of time- there really hasn't been that much more to FFXI from WOG besides DNC and SCH. The latest patch has a lot of goodies, but much of it seems like a patch for TAU.
