I just realized how brutal people are on official MMO forums when a new MMO comes out.

Vanguard was the worst up till now but they have very good reason to be, still it was just a game..right..and people still spelled out more than 1 sentence.

But the funcom forums are just out of control spam, they just seem like teens on a rampage lol.

I mean, will there be a point where MMO companies will just have no forums anymore. Cause they have no use anymore really, it doesn't help anyone, most posts are just "OMG THEY NERFED X/Y/Z" and are just useless really.

"This game sucks" VS "This game rocks."

It's really not only people not in favor of a game, fans can be just as bad or worse usually.

Does anyone avoid official forums now, or just avoids games cause the community is so brutal?

Warhammer has already announced that they will not have an official forum. Unless its changed without me knowing about it yet they will not be having a forum.

I'm starting to think the only games worth playing are the ones without official forums, I really don't want the devs to spend any amount of energy in having to hire people or recruit volunteers to moderate this utter crap.  It gets to be too big, let the fans handle it. I've had the pleasure to browse fan sites far better coded, styled and moderated then official forums. There are exceptions, but generally that's what I see.

people shouldn't let stuff get to them. Official forums are chaotic full of noise, just something to get used to.

It is very bad now .You think the forums are bad it can get even worse in the games.People are even becoming such smart asses,they will tell you they paid 15 bucks for a chat channel,they are going to spam it all they want.The wave of immature players started right  around the WOW era,as pretty much every home in the world soon had dsl.WOW was very highly hyped and marketed ,so of course it drew a lot of new gamers especially the immature ones.

They all wanted to become end game raiding pros/experts as i am assuming they think it is in some geek sort of fashion something special.Wow made it fast and easy for them to get to end game ,as there was also a large influx of RMT sites offering power leveling and selling of gaming accounts.

That huge crowd that joined the MMORPG world at that time is now starting to filter into all games new and old.Any game that is hyped now will draw them there,so they can speed level then brag about there raiding skills or tell everyone in the game they know nothing because they havn't done high level raids like they have.I am sure we  have heard this kind of rubbish many times over in chat channels.That is nothing however the topics in chat channels now are totally unrelated to the game and usually sound like 12-15 year olds talking rubbish.I have rejoined EQ2 again,and the chat at times in there can reach total immaturity rising above WOW's at times.It wasn't like that several years ago when i first played the game,it has changed dramatically.

So i think games are now becoming more worried about subs than they are about there forums or chat channels.One thing i like is that IMO the larger % of immature players flock to PVP games/servers,so that would hopefully keep me away from them as much as possible.

Mythic is smart.

Official forums are not useful for players!!! they just say something to play at us. quite dislike and never go there..

It's how it was for DAoC (Mythic's first MMO).  No official boards, rather they used the Vault Network, but then again everybody uses the vault network...

They had the Camelot Herald, as they have the WAR Herald, where you can go and voice your complaint through a form, or send them your concerns and questions without having to post in the cesspool with all the other people who would rather post on a board then play it.
