Age of Conan

For the past 2 nights in a row I have bore witness to 2 different guys come into the General Discussion forum over at the official forums starting threads about how they were in-game banned for violating PvP rules?!?  The first guy 'griefed' another player at a waypoint that attempted to gank him.  Claims he killed the guy 10 times over and then made a profane retort at him when the guy whispered him telling him to stop camping him.  He claimed to get perma-banned for doing this..   Seriously?!?

Ok, I can see how MAYBE he might have deserved a temporary ban for the profanity..but permanently and without warning?   Yikes!   So he comes into the forum to tell his story and basically get other players' opinions about said GM action.. and 15 minutes later his thread vanishes completely.   He was silenced by a moderator, obviously.  I just shook my head in disbelief. 

I pretty much spent a good chunk of my day and night browsing through the massive churning of disgruntled players after the 7/10 patch was released..poking my opinions in here and there in random threads.  It was somewhat amusing and at the same time..somewhat disturbing that the general discussion forum had become more fun than playing the actual BROKEN game!  Like a trainwreck, I just had to keep periodically looking at the newest complaints and Funcom trashing threads being made.

Well, a little while ago another guy posted that his brother had JUST been banned in-game shortly after arriving in Poitan having recently left Tesso where they were being camped on by a bunch of members of some guild.  Apparently his brother had run into the water at the docks to avoid a guy meleeing him to death and he was attacked while in the water and something glitched giving his brother the ability to attack from within the water.  This was the ONLY thing they can think of that he *could* have been banned for.  

I, as well as many other people, expressed shock towards his situation in our reply posts.  We were trying to ask him specifically what had happened..pressing him for more information.  He then updated saying that his brother logged into an alt and put in a petition and his alt was also permanently shortly after placing the petition!  I pressed the 'quote' button and typed out a reply to him and when I pressed 'submit', I was looking at a "you do not have permission to access the forums..login..blah blah" screen.  I pressed back and refreshed the list of threads and sure enough his thread had been deleted by a moderator as well.  

I had already been quite disturbed by the many disgusting things going on between users and moderators and I really wanted to know what the deal was with that guy's brother being banned but I had neglected to note his user name (otherwise I would have sent him a private message.  I made a thread titled, "to the guy that posted brother's banning" and in the post I typed that it looked as if a moderator silenced him and deleted his thread and I asked again for more information on what happened.  I clicked back..waited a few seconds..refreshed..saw a reply had been made but when I clicked it I got the same message, "you do not have permission to access the forums..login..blah blah".  Ok..wtf.  I clicked back and refreshed again..thread gone!   Wow!  Now I am being abused and silenced?

At this point, I am angry and make one more thread titled, "was it worth it?" and in the post said, "to whichever moderator it is that is abusing their power..you just earned Funcom another 2 cancellations!" This thread was pretty much immediately removed and when I pressed back again it said I was banned for 6 months!   Now, I don't know about the rest of you..but I will NOT be treated like that and I had already meant what I had said in that last post..being already tired of the crap going on with the game.  I made good on my promise and my account is now canceled and my girlfriend's will be canceled tomorrow.

Suffering the out of memory errors and being virtually ignored was already enough.  Moderator abuse was the icing on the cake!

Do they think it's ok to keep messing the game up more and more..KNOW that people are getting increasingly more angry about it..say next to NOTHING about it and then have the nerve to start locking and deleting threads and posts that contain legitimate gripes?  I have never seen such bad business conducted in my life!  I thought my former employer & Company was bad!  Holy god!  ...Funcom! 

I wonder how many other paying customers have been treated this same exact way today?  They are obviously frustrated and taking extreme measures to shut people up.  They need to learn to take some personal accountability for all of the hatred being slung at their company.  The customer service is horrible and the message boards over there speak volumes.

What do the rest of you think about this entire situation?

Oh..and here are the screens I took and put on my desktop so that I am constantly reminded why I will NEVER EVER purchase another Funcom product again!

I'm starting to wonder if there is a competition among the mods on the official boards to see who can directly cause the most cancelations in any given week.

It's like they view their responsibilities as some wierd sort of "whack a mole" game. A lot of people who get unfair bans have friends and guildmates who willalso be turned off by the heavy handed tactics, not to mention a large number of people who will just reject such tactics even if not directly impacted.

They can't afford bad publicity. The game doesn't have any feet to stand on it's own, so they have to silence the complainers.

Conan sucks anyways, you're better off  =)

stop acting so shocked its failcom for god's sake. and one i know what u mean the mod erase and ban almost anyone it throws their 2 cents in on aoc system. i left after 2 weeks mainly cuz of the same crap 700,000 account made only 300,000 active would be my guess. their game is crap and they know the fucked up so till they pull there heads out of thier asses and take their beating like a real company aoc will just keep beinf a failure.

He is telling us about the abuse that occurs on the forums, a review of sort, if you're thinking of buying this game, you sure as hell wouldent want to find this out on your own, so he is saving you, your hard earned  cash.

I myself however am from the UK and im going to be buying the game myself, just to see for myself, thanks for the information Cubed27.

The fact is.. I just got abused (banned w/o warning) by Funcom for trying to stick up for another upset customer.  I came here to tell my story..no more, no less.   I *thought* maybe I'd get some support over this topic..and I certainly didn't expect to be abused here by a fellow gamer.
