*trolls the forum* no im just kidding. i was wondering if anyone can share there experiences with me. i heard AoC is a awesome game, but now i am having my doubts due to other topics, giving this game a terribly bad name.

I wouldn't buy it just yet. Right now they seem to be breaking more things than fixing with their patches. Give it a few more months. Maybe it'll get better.

Taste differs, Saying that a game is good or bad is based on your personal taste. While there is quite a lot of negative persons here (and not only for AoC, there is a lot negative about Wow here too) there is usually someone who hate a game for every persons who loves it. Don't listen to the trolls and fanbois anyways, you have to check out a game yourself (read a few reviews however, check a + and a - to get a better picture of the game. Posts about games here is so trolled that they are useless for deciding about if you want to play a game). But if your computer isnt dual core or quad and dont have at least a GF7800 card, don't. What everyone here agrees is that AoC is a beutiful game and run it on the lowest specs is like watching a dvd on a black and white TV. Check the recommended stats on the game. Oh, and game experiences of players is kinda outdated if we just talk about the first weeks, it was very buggy then, most of it is fixed up good but a few annoying ones remains still (and some promised content who hasn't shown up yet, that sux too). Yes, I play AoC and I would reccomend it to my friends but don't listen to me, get your own opinion, read what you can find about how the game mechanics works, and the game in general. If you like how that sounds and have good hardware, you should try it. If not, play something else. Or watch a friend play it if you have the opportunity. Good luck either way. (No, I am not a AoC fanboi, if I am a fan to anyone it is Arenanet and Bioware. I just play AoC cause I like it, and that is all that matters about a game to me).

MY AOC experience was broken, like most mmo's that come out now. At least the unsubscribe button worked! We must not stand for the unfinished games to launch and be successful anymore. I am as guilty as anyone else, with a drawer full of games that just didn't work as advertised, but i tell you this, NO MORE. Time to play real life I guess? _____________________________ |

You can check my post history to verify this. I do not post against AoC all the time. I usually give it good points and bad points. Usually my good points are helping people put a system together to run AoC. But with that said, I don't like AoC at all. Matter of fact, I am extremley disappointed in Funcom. Everything from horrible dim-witted GMs to the countless of bugs in the game I just don't like it. AoC is the ultimate representation of a massive Hype Ad actually doing the game harm versus helping to launch it into a successful MMO. Its just a really bad MMO. It really is lol. Im sorry. |

Fun game Nice graphics, blood effects are cool, combat is entertaining more so than other mmo's but.. wayy too easy leveling is too easy no death penality
They marketed this game for mature adults, but yet the difficulty is piss poor at best, and you can level your guy to max in no time flat.
So its mature in that there's blood, but its so easy to level and death has no meaning it might as well be world of warcraft.

I completely love the game, especially the mellee classes. I like my ranger but hate my demonologist. I personally think the game experience varies from what class you are playing. If you play a slow casting mage, the game feels like grind and at some point you get tired of dying against low level mobs. When you play an assassin or ranger, the combat is more fast paced and you can kill anything and everything if you are quick enough. And you see rolling heads *g* Yes, the game is unfinished but it has potential so I don't mind paying, if it is finished in reasonable time. |

Maybe for PvE this would be ok. But for the PvP they promised buying this game at this point seems like a silly idea when more than 50% of what they promised is not in the game.
Saying a game is unfinsihed is all well and good, but that usually means like 80-90% finished. The PvP in AOC is at best 50% finished and I might say lower if we consider things like balance and bad zoning implementations, but a lot of games do that poorly so let's just say 50%.

Basing your opinion on what you read in these forums is a BIG mistake. Its a flamefest here and you will rarely find any honest or helpful or positive info here. Its mostly good for shits and giggles.
If your unsure wait til they activate the buddy key program- and make your own choice
Dont be a sheep-the haters will not give you helpful info all they do is bash- and the fanbois will not tell you the whole truth like what is or isnt really wrong with AOC Take whatever you read here with a grain of salt- but make your own choice |

The better your PC the more you will enjoy AOC. I say this because it is a very visual game. There are a few bugs, balancing issues and lack of content. I use the word "few" here because i have not encountered anything game breaking or distracts me from enjoying the game. I find Melee combat quite a big draw, however some find it a great put off. I like it because there is no Auto Attack, and hence you are more invovled in the combat. A lot of games find animation a hard nut to crack, AoC smashes it to smithereens, the amount of sword-play animation in AoC is amazing. And you are in control of each swing of you weapon! After playing a melee character in AoC, the auto attack in other MMOs seem rather boring. However this is my opinion and many dont like it, and say that it is a waste of time and prefer auto attack. But as said before only you will know if you like it or not. Dont be distracted by the negative posts( alot of people where expecting a lot of things), if you have a good PC, it will run and play well for you, it has its faults but nothing major (so long as you dont lvl to 80 in 10 minutes!)

Honesty I think the reason there is some much discontent about AOC on the official and fan site forums is that people really care about the game. So many people want(ed) it to be great. It was hyped to the gills and people bought into it. The flames on the forums are because they care, not the opposite. They WANT Funcom to fix the issues. They WANT the game to succeed.That combined with people pissed of that a lot of features hyped and even on the retail box are not in game in any form at release has left a bad taste in alot of people's mouths.
It is a call to Funcom by the player base begging for them to get it right. If someone, and I include myself in this, plays a game, dislikes it and writes it off, they hit cancel and never say a thing. Some games I have tried after playing, my level of give a shit is so low I just leave. Never hit the forums, never say a world. Some I have tried and see huge potential but feel let down by execution, I will take the time to post on the O Forums hoping the Devs read, comprehend and fix so I don't just walk away.
