General Discussion

Up until now I had still been hoping that funcom would pull it together. I really enjoyed the game at the beginning and saw great potential in it.  But patch after patch the game just becomes more and more broken. Todays patch seems to  be the straw that broke the camels back though. Reports of invisible walls being put up everywhere (from eu forums), loss of xp from grey quests (means more grinding) and game crashing bugs, compounded with another round of nerfs to just about everything, is killing the fan base. Not to mention the fact that PvP XP, PvP armour and guild city benefits are still not in. This goes beyond a buggy launch. The complete lack of promised content from launch is unacceptable and the fact that they said we would have it at the end of June/early July was a flat out lie. The AoC forums are in a state of uproar right now with a lot of upset people.  Personally this is very disappointing because I really wanted this game to succeed but it seems that Funcom is doing all the wrong things. I logged in today hoping that all the rumors were not true but found that my gui is completely missing and I can no longer get it back. Also its really hard to defend a company that flat out lies in the patch notes. They said that they fixed memory leaks but the word on the street is things are worse. I hope companies like 38 Studios and BioWare take note of what has happened to Vanguard and what is happening to AoC so they can give us some  very good mmos in the future.

Sadly I canceled my AoC sub today. Maybe I'll try again when the rest of the game I payed for gets put in. Back to LotRO for me, Mines of Moria cannot come soon enough.

Perfectly said. I agree with everything you said and I canceled today.

Technically speaking however,  bugs really aren't the issue with AoC. It's the core  "Design Decisions" and customer service that has brought this potential MMO beast down.

Nothing is more sad than seeing potential that is lost.

However, I am not closed to coming back.

It's the community too. AoC seems to attract adolescent males with too much testosteron.

Shrug, if anything put me off from AoC it's that.

And you were suprised the community was like that

It was pretty obvious what the community would be like months ago when certain features were confirmed.

- Wide scale non consential PvP.

- Giving AOC a 'Mature' reputation.

- Boobs. [now covered up]

- Nipples. [now covered up]

- Decapitations.

- Blood spurts. [no blood now at all].

I mean really what else were they expecting with features like that?

Agreed...except I never left Middle-earth.  All other mmos come and go but LOTRO will always be there for me.

I gave AoC a shot, it's not ready for prime time by a long shot.  And if a game isn't ready at launch or "has potential" it's lost me as a customer because I never go back to an mmo that fails at launch.  Just no interest.

Yea, I sadly just cancled my AoC account today.

My UI bugged out today, and I reverted back to the default. Looking at I realized something. They're prepping the game for the Xbox360 release (worst UI in any MMO, ever).
