As a matter of fact I thought it was great. You may have stacked specials in your que, but I for one was constantly clearing my que to adapt to the situation (i.e. heals, etc..)

But regardless did you play pre-CU without buffs? The way it was originally intended? Because there was no way you could fill you're combat que and be effective in combat. You're HAM prevented using specials over and over, and if I remember correctly even using stim packs used mind.

Pre-CU combat (without buffs) was simply the most engaging form of combat I ever experienced in an MMO.

Abrahmm,

Here's a bit of Kauri history for you.  Starmond, Angelisse, Deklin, Oemore of MMM.

We're all over at AoC on thog.  Some others from another great Kauri guild of SOB are there also. In fact, we called this guild, S.O.B.   We have almost an entire guild (enough that we have a tier 1 guild city built) of former Kaurians and former SWG players.

And Mike,  Bal Thazar of HARM (bria) is there also with Pliscan (HARM) making a toon on thog also so it's not just Kauri.  Other pre CU vets from many servers, too many to mention.  Have had some good memorys coming out in vent of past SWG days gone by.

Your welcome to join us.  Pm me and I'll give you vent info.

Deklin? !  LOL  we use to talk sh*t back and forth. I'm an old Kauri toon also.  [ Ahrdet Paay] from the Red Sun guild. I heard all of my guild moved to Guild Wars after the NGE hit.

What a d*mn tragedy.

Haha thats funny! I was [Abrahm Hobbs] and was in the guild [SCO]. Apparently Deklin was one of the founders of SCO but had a falling out before I started playing. My interactions with him were never friendly

Man I miss that game.

Tried: LotR, CoH, AoC, WAR, Jumpgate Classic
Played: SWG, Guild Wars, WoW
Playing: Eve Online, Counter-strike
Loved: Star Wars Galaxies
Waiting for: Jumpgate Evolution, Earthrise, Fallen Earth, anything sandbox.

Log off... its your own choice. But don't blame it on anything but yourself.

No, I found nothing because there was literally nothing. I knew the game was what it was. I went it with a some-what open mind(I wanted to see how much the NGE had improved, and I had a little itching to play some Jump To Lightspeed.) But after going to all of the major cities at a usually busy hour of a day, and only finding 6 people online total, I would say I found nothing. 0/159 of my friends were on and after traveling the galaxy I didn't even find enough people to form a group.

And trust me, I had nothing to do with the entire server population leaving.

ROFL  Deklin and I still argue.  More that we both would like to admit.  LOL  But, I do enjoy gameing with him and the others.  Dek is on vent most nights.  (later pacific time).  PM me and I'll be more than happy to give you vent info.  Stop bye and say "hi".  Sure he'd like it.

Starmond (imp mando) started MMM (mos meca mercenaries) and Mos Meca.  Later started the large city on Lok (nearest to the spaceport) in which he ended up calling it "Ghost Town".  After MMM, he started Cobra on his alt, Dok-Holiday (BH) and I co-ran it with him.  Cobra city was Hideaway on Naboo.

Angelisse was pre-cu unlocked jedi and Starmond's wife, ingame and out.

That is unfortunately the problem with the game... the core is not designed for its current manifestation. Clicking your mouse button is not hard and the NGE isnt hard.

The game is designed for a different purpose and they tried a daring plan which didnt work. Sad but true and to bolster that point if it was a success then there would not be the amount of deserved criticism that the NGE has obtained. There instead would be acclaim as the most daring success. History speaks volumes and Customer in this case striked back.

"Obi-Wan Kenobi: We were decieved by a lie; we all were. It appears that SOE is behind everything, including the NGE! After the death of CU, the NGE became their new apprentice."

I really liked the Pre-CU combat as well. Especially before people started all wearing composite and having the doctor buffs.

Buffs seem to be the bane of SWG... I wish they would have just removed them from the beginning, once they saw how out of whack it made things... and still does.

I never understood why doctors did the buffs when they had bio engineers. I mean wouldn't genetic tampering and steroids be their strong suit. I

Thank the real SWG vets for keeping other games from getting the NGE treatment.

Wow everyone needs to stop comparing this game to the past. If you take time to learn the system and granted that you're on a populated server (sry Kauri isnt one), I hope that people will realize it's not that bad of a game.

Many people still play (doesnt matter how big it was in the past, just give it up, it was 3 years ago), and I have tons of great relationships and my friend list (on Bria) has about 100 people who are often online. The devs in the past year have added a lot of new content and if you truly loved this game in the past, you shouldn't just give up on it.

SWG is an average game right now, but it's awesome if you love Star Wars, and it is awfully better than when the NGE was first implemented. With peoople continuing to give it a bad rep, the population will never grow. SWG is not dead by any means because I've actually been playing it for awhile now and it is quite fun. Just let the past go...

Fanboi/viral marketing talking points in this post:

1. You can't compare the NGE to the old game. You have to treat it as a completely different game.

2. It's not a bad game if you are one of the two or three servers with a decent population.

3. Give up, the NGE is the longest running version of the game.

4. The current dev team is getting it right as opposed to every other dev team since the NGE which got it wrong.

5. The game is much better now than it was when the NGE was implemented.

6. The vets are responsible for the game not doing as well is it could because they give it such a bad rap.

7. Move on.

It's impressive that you got so many talking points into such a short post. Do you get extra credit for that?
