I just made a post about this a few mins ago called "beta scam." to sum it up: EA and BOOM! have no idea when the winners will be announced = no time soon Even if you win, it DOES NOT get you into beta until they need systems like yours in the test. Basically they taking beta invites in order of what they need still, and if they don't need you, you likely won't get an invite until Aug. IF YOU WON. Basically it was a scam that slightly increases your odds of getting into beta sometime before october, IF they ever announce the results. |

I think it was pretty clearly stated that systems that met the requirements would be the only ones taken. It says it in sevral places. if yours isn't up to par you shouldn't have taken the chance in the first place. I think it's a bit silly to be slanderous and bitter now that you suddenly realized this. Yes I'm running a top of the line system.. even perhaps above that line. Do I hope to get in? Of corse why else would I have bought both the CE and the Comic. Am I sweating it? Not particularly. If I get cause of the comic, thats freaking awsome. Otherwise I'll get into Open with my CE, I don't honestly care all that much. Seriously mate, chill, IF and WHEN they need you, I'm sure you'll be called up to bat. They havn't so far as I know done anything they didn't say they would with the comic. I mean sure I'm a little disapointed they havent given any information about it and yes I'm checking daily. But then again, I'm not all that worried about it either. I'm sure they had SOME kind of plan in the pipeline for it. Otherwise they wouldn't have done it. Mythic tends to keep it on the level. So buck up and calm the frack down. |

I'm trying to imagine why someone who didn't meet system reqs would want a closed beta account, unless it was to:
Trying to play the closed beta on a sub-par machine would only result in frustration, and bug reports of performance that the developers don't need to hear right now. In that regard, what they did by adding the machine restrictions was completely justified.

Where in the comic does it state exactly what the system reqs are?
Where in the link to BUY the comic does it state exactly what the system specs are?
Where in the link to buy the comic did it say to buy only 1 issue since multiple issues wouldn't help your chances?
Sorry, but this is clearly a scam. Shame on EAMYTHIC, I expected more from them. They've been SO tight lipped about this comic deal, because they know they f'ed it up and they're clearly embarrassed about it. |

Originally posted by Oyjord It isn't a scam. It's just that people are to dumb to read the writing on the wall and understand how things work. There are NO minimum requirements available because Mythic doesn't even know what those are. You start with High End machines and work your way down. So Mythic cannot give out requirements that they don't even know yet. Second their Beta system Works like this. Current System Requirements > Associations. That means that you could have all the associations in the world, associations being attended an event, CE pre-order, veteran newsletter, BOOM beta code, etc, and you still wouldn't get into beta until they lower the reqs. Once you meet the current requirements then they go by how many or which associations you have. So if you have a BOOM code and meet Reqs you will get in over another person who meets the reqs but only has veteran newsletter. However that system will change when they do Open beta where anyone with the proper associations can play the beta reqaurdless of the Reqs. So those that do have a Boom code WILL get into beta. It just happens sooner when you meet the current testing reqs. Far from a scam. A scam implies you were cheated out of something. They said you could get into beta and you will just takes time. |

Honesty is the best policy, but insanity is a better defense. |
I was pondering buying a stack of those comic books just to get into the beta... then I have read the fine print and decided not to - I went and pre ordered a CE in stead. The rules were not hidden, they have been posted in advance and while I do feel for you, you have only yourself to blame. |

I'm not complaining about the rules being posted on the website, or on the newsletter. Problem is that it is NOT posted on the COMIC. After all, not everyone cross-references the game's official website for fine print. Also the intent of the contest vs. what it actually delivers is not a very legit concept. And I'm not saying that if you work for another company or have an antiquated system, that you should DEFINATELY and under all circumstances be allowed into beta BUT: If you have a decent system, and you win the contest, it SHOULD be announced on a timely manner, and if you meet the minimums, why not live up to the name of their contest, and allow you into beta? |
