AoC is fun, but it's not all that polished.  It also has it's own share of problems and weaknesses.  A truer comparison might be McDonalds and Wendys.  I don't think any MMO is serving steak at the moment.

Then AoC is like a cheap Chinese buffett. It looks appetizing and you take alot of it in but you'll be hungry for something else an hour later.

To me, it does not even matter that AoC is worse than WoW or LotRO, as even if it were better, Gaute's comment is totally unprofessional and in poor taste.

It is fine to compare one's game to another's in a positive light, stating how they compare and contrast, but insulting it outright with lame forum trash talk is just incomprehensibly rude. This guy, being a game director, should know that more than anyone.

In all of WoW's time at the top, never have I ever seen Blizzard make negative remarks towards another company's product, even though if anyone could justify doing so, they could. Why not? Because Blizzard has class and confidence, and does not need to take potshots at others to trick themselves and the public into thinking they have a good game.

Anyway, just one more reason not to play AoC - you avoid management who is up its own ass thinking they have a gem that is so good it is misunderstood and underappreciated, while failing to recognize their game lacks compared to polished titles.

Yep, you know a game is going to Blow as hard as Blownan does when all it has to offer is T&A and a bunch of elitest devs lying about whats actually in the game. The lack of open beta was a clear signal the AoC was not going to be good. Not that you'd know it from all the PvP happy little rubber people who like to swamp every other game's forums with how "great" it is.
